Caleb is right in thinking that the line "though he appeared to have overcome it, it appeared yang was still unable to put his heart in order." is weird and stands out as inconsistency in the narrator's language. The narrator is indeed omniscient, and especially so when it comes to him talking about characters' feelings or thoughts (Hunter x Hunter style). The correct translation is: "And now, having finally overcome that obstacle, Yang still couldn't adjust to that feeling." (" that obstacle" being confessing and reciprocating Fredrica's feelings, and "that feeling" being whether Yang truly believes he's worthy of marital and familial happiness or not).
