I really think they should read comments for this series, they've missed quite a few detailes

yes, thematically it makes sense for the development of shin. If you think about it, it's really not that miraculous considering that the squad they all came from was much larger and they all died and prior to that each spearhead member came from different squads. We just happen to follow Shin and the others who survived "to the end", it could have been any other member of the squad, in the end, none of them would have even met if not for the circumstances of their homeland. That being said, as an anime only, it is understandable to think that it doesn't make much sense since they didn't tell what happened but as you have said, there is an explanation.

One of the best episodes of all time, with the ost voice of the cord playing in the bg of the best scene ever, wonderfully directed.

Episode 22 is one of the best piece of media I seen in anime ever. If you go for details you could talk 2 hours about it. It's peak cinema. About how Raiden survive, watch closely last episode and pay attention to where Fido is located. It takes cover in ditch of some sort. Raiden could take cover there also and that protected them from the blast.

If you’re curious as to why or how Lena is there, it’s because the squad has slowly been making their way back to the Republic where the Morpho has situated itself. You can see hints here and there from previous episodes like the ruined flag of San Magnolia, as well as the fallen statue and signs. Whilst the supposed 'deaths' may feel like a copout, their survival is very vital for Shin who convinced himself they were dead. His mental state was already taking a dive so makes sense from his perspective they did die but unlike episode 11, I don't think they were trying to pull one on the viewer. Raiden's is probably the most miraculous that isn't explained until later in the LN where the Reginlief has a basic autopilot system. There are a few frames when Fido was behind Raiden and moving away before the shot, hinting at his survival. Activating the autopilot, he hopped aboard Fido. Which is why he's seen next to Fido when he was revealed. And that field of Lycoris? The same field Spearhead had previously passed by during episode 9. So in a way, everything has somewhat come full circle. 86 symbolism for you.
