There is no test. Caleb went into this knowing it's a comedic, SoL, coming-of-age drama, and that's exactly what he's been served so far. He also knows Clannad has more than 50 episodes, AND a sequel. Naturally, the first three episodes are going to be more lighthearted and silly, but that's not a bad thing. These first few episodes are actually really good.
Not to mention that Jacob has made it very clear that he loves Clannad. I think Caleb trusts his bro's judgement. They seem to have a similar taste in anime to begin with.

Your discussion for this episode was on-point! Tbh I was worried that these early episodes that are jampacked with slow SoL-esque character introductions/setups would dull your interest in the show a bit, but it seems to be having the opposite effect.
Although the real test still lies in the first major arc of the anime, which should be coming up shortly. Curious to see what your opinions and theories will be on a certain character...
