Moments of misplaced sense of duty is definitely a shared character flaw for Tohru & Kureno. The irony is that Kureno is actively trying to avoid getting into a relationship with Arisa, but Tohru is really pushing for it. I think some people partly view Kureno x Arisa as romantic because, like Tohru, they want Arisa to be happy and get swept up in the idea of 'give Arisa want she wants'.

what's even weirder to me is that some people will jump on the opportunity to hold Shigure accountable ( AND RIGHTFULLY SO!), but will turn around and actively support a relationship between Kureno and Arisa, which the boys themselves seem to do... what's the difference exacly? that Shigure is presented as shady while we're force fed that Kureno can do virtually no wrong? and while i'm capable to consider that the curse might play a part in blowing Shigure's feelings out of porpotion (which ABSOLUTELY DOES NOT JUSTIFY anything, it's just a thought), i can't even do the same for Kureno! his curse broke ages ago, there's nothing truly tying him to Akito or muddling his feelings for her!! but even if you accept his lame excuse for doing all he does for (and with) Akito, NOTHING justifies the Kureno X Arisa stuff, in which, once again, he's paired with an underage girl. but no one cares, even among the fans!!... i don't know, this whole thing just feels hypocritical to me and it bothers me to the core...

In terms of age gaps, one thing I haven’t seen people discuss much is the gap between Uotani and Kureno. Kureno is like 26 and Uo is about 17 and in high school and no one bats an eye. I remember being really frustrated by it, and unable to be invested in their relationship at all. I get that Kureno is extremely sheltered but idk it always felt weird to me.
