What I considered over the top for the bubbles is the fact that they were covering exactly the parts that needed to be censored, but there was no bubble at all in any other part of their bodies, so, the same way as the light, the only reason for them to be there was to be used as censor, making the perfect parallel with Ishigami reading a manga with the same censorship at that time.

Did we watch the same thing? The soap bubbles were only enough to barely cover her nipples and vag. That's not over the top, thats pushing it to the extreme, outside of shows that actually show nipple. There was next to nothing there. If I had been shown this in isolation, I probably would have loved it, I love me a well animated ecchi comedy, But seeing it after seeing 2 seasons of the show, it just felt so out of place, and made me feel weirdly uncomfortable (And this is coming from a guy who has The Monogatari series, and Kill la Kill in his top 5) And yeah, Props where props are due, the animators deserve massive credit for their skill, lol. Edit: ok, to be fair, I just finished watching their reaction to the ova (was still a couple episodes behind on their season 2 reactions, so had to get caught up) and you are right, the steam and light effects were definitely over the top, but I still stand by the soap part, that was over the top in the completely opposite direction, lol. Which is probably why it stands out in my mind over the other parts.

And about the jiggle physics, that's why they used an OVA to adapt these chapters, cus they knew it would cause problems if they broadcasted it in the season. About it puting most actual ecchi anime to shame, well, that just shows how skilled the animators for Kaguya-sama are.

Oh I get what the objective of the OVA was. But if their job was to make fun of it, they should have gone the opposite way. Rather then making the boob jiggle physics over the top, they should have made the light beams and soap bubbles that Ishigami was complaining about over the top. That to me would have gotten the point across even better, while still sticking with the more reserved fan service that Kaguya sama uses. It wouldn't have felt like a fan made hentai.

The objective of this OVA (which is canon btw) is to make fun of the fanservice tropes. And as Kaguya-sama is known for making fun of a lot of romance manga tropes, it makes sense to include the fanservice in romance mangas.

Oh no, I thought they had skipped this... I'm no hater of fan service, and I've seen my fair shar of ecchi anime. But I HATED this OVA. It just didn't feel right being in this show, and especially at this level, holy shit, the boob jiggle physics puts most actual ecchi anime to shame. Not a fan, but hey, I'll bet their reaction will be priceless, just have to go dig a copy of this out of the attic somewhere.

The entire 3rd part of the OVA (which is also a cannon manga chapter) is a reference to Shokugeki no Soma, which Chika has clearly read too much of lol
