This is exactly why I wish translator's notes were widely acceptable

2022-08-28 16:37:07 +0000 UTCThe English dub also changed it up a bit to where it makes sense without the need for extra context, so I can see why the GJM sub changed it. For the sake of watchability, I think that's better than having to pause to read a paragraph of text in the form of a translator's note that gives the context Japanese viewers already have.

Vast majority of an English speaking audience won’t even know what a Mongolian spot is, so I don’t blame them for going for a translation that doesn’t require that context to understand

There's nothing to translate there. How in the actual fuck, does that become something else entirely? Where do these subbers get off, changing shit on their own? "I'm just gonna change the entire script because I can." Or how about you translate shit properly instead of taking excessive liberties? Learn about CONTEXT. These subbers can't call themselves translators at all, considering they have no concept of what context means. These fansubs are extremely subpar.
