The bathing thing is definitely a Japanese/East Asian cultural norm, where communal bathing between family members and same-sex groups is just the way of life.

2024-06-26 07:26:50 +0000 UTCI COMPLETELY agree with the beginning of Jacob's "tirade" but I disagree with his point that it recontextualizes things that happened in the past. It's just, unfortunately, a case of a bad adaptation of the source material because, from what I've heard on the SoS Patreon, this whole incident is given a lot more attention and Rudeus DOES scold the beast girls, and the REASON for them not being punished by the school is actually gone into (They're royalty). About the younger sister washing the older brother's back... idk that might be a Japanese culture thing or maybe just an innocent part of the world this show takes place in. My Japanese nephew is 5/6 years old and still takes baths with his Japanese mother so... who knows. I don't think it was meant to be "pervy" in any way whatsoever.
