it's a good show. Learning about the ainu culture was fascinating and the comedy is good. The plot with the overall goal of all the characters was also interesting. Seeing as how you only watched season 1, I would give it another shot. The characters don't feel stagnant at all and none of them feel like a npc with each of the having their own goals and reasons for participating in the story. The multiple different groups with each of them doing their own thing and eventually interacting with each other makes it feel like the plot doesn't only progress in places were sugimoto is at, no matter what he is doing or where he is at, all the other characters also also progressing and developing despite sugimoto not being with them.

I don't understand why people like golden kamuy that much, watched the first season a couple of years back and was disappointed. should I give it another shot? does the story get better? and no hate btw if you like the show, just curios why.

Not yet, they only reacted to Auto Memory Doll so far, but they will react to the rest before they start the show that wins this poll. They always start polls earlier than they start reacting to the show so people have time to vote and they have time to prepare, so no need to worry about that.

But then you’d have to realize that they’re already watching an episode of 12 different series per week to not only do reactions but also discussions on them, on top of streaming for multiple hours 5 days a week, and being able to live their lives to do other stuff. The burnout by doubling the amount of episodes per week would be too much.
