AI generation of art/music/etc. is definitely a slippery slope that I can see a lot of artists having problems with. I think the biggest deciding factor between "This is the death of human creativity," and "This is so cool!" is what the actual objective of the person behind the AI is. Like, if it's an artist who uses their own 'voiceprint' or whatever to train the AI but their real interest is in seeing how far they can push the tech, then I think it would fall under the "this is so cool" category; But if it's an artist who genuinely loves singing/painting/[insert creative endeavor here] but feels like they have to use the AI to essentially generate engagement/income because they don't think they'd be able to keep up in the industry otherwise, then that's the death of the artist's dream in and of itself. Did any of that make sense? TL;DR: If the AI itself is the goal of the creative endeavor, then everything is fine. If the art that the AI creates is the goal, that's where the problems start to crop up and everything gets a little messy. PS: If you guys haven't watched Carole and Tuesday yet, you should totally get on that. It does a pretty comprehensive deep dive on the complex relationship between human artists and AI in a remarkably plausible near-future setting.
