2023-06-18 14:38:30 +0000 UTCI really like Azalea's manager as a character. I don't necessarily think that he's actually likeable, but I like his complexity. They really didn't need to make him so three dimensional, he coulda just been a bad dude and we would've had a perfectly suitable antagonist, but they went the extra mile to show that all of his machinations and scheming and orders do come from a place of genuine care. He clearly understands and respects the sacrifices that the girls have made in following his heavy-handed guidance, to the point of even smacking that one crew member who questions their musicianship (that's a word, right?). He comes across more like an overbearing parent who's making a misguided effort to ensure his kids' success than as a heartless music executive just trying to wring as much profit as possible out of some naive young musicians.
