EARLY ACCESS Revolutionary Girl Utena Episode 29 Reaction

Really interesting insights.

I feel similar way.

I think the key to this episode might be: 1. Anthy's insight that people feel lots of things at the same time and sometimes only act on half of them. 2. The repeated themes of people trying to tell others what to do disregarding and not really caring for their feelings or particular situation. Which plays well into the idea of using a wish :"for someone else's sake" which both Rukka and Juri want to do during the episode. In the car Juri believes that Rukka is trying to tempt her to use the miracle to get Shiori to love her. Juri says that all she would use it for is to free Shiori from Rukka not to get requited love. We find out later that Rukka would use the miracle to free Juri from "something" probably Shiori. I find it extremely interesting that in retrospect, they are the same in their desires for the people they love. But F Rukka because he's cruel in his efforts. In a way, Rukka's behavior put Shiori in the position Juri was in. I think he purposefully did so out of spite. Maybe he was trying to model the situation for Juri so she should maybe apply some of the desire to protect to herself instead of Rukka. They cause Juri to rightfully despise him, which makes the situation even more symmetrical. It would be interesting if in the moment the pendant shattered Juri realized that no matter how much hurt her unrequited love for Shiori brought her that she treasured it non the less and it hurt to have it stripped away. That her wish to free Shiori of her unrequited love for Rukka was actually a cruelty. Therefore, even the wish to "Free" Shiori from Rukka was akin to harming her. Who is the wish really for? Would freeing Shiori from Rukka be for Shiori or would it be for Juri so that Juri didn't have to see her in pain? Unrequited love is a shitty situation no one can really do anything about, you can't decide to fall out of love with someone no matter how much you know them to be awful. The best thing someone can do for you is to tell you that, you need to move on and that it will be okay. No matter how long you live that support and comfort is the only thing that helps without hurting. Sadly I can see the ending being Shiori going back to Juri because the guy she loved dumped her and then died and she wants the power trip she gets knowing Juri loves her desperately and will take her in no matter what. Juri accepts that because she's a teenager who is collared by her love and is just desiring to be in Shiori's presence no matter how much it hurts.

Man it really does seem like he was seeking the best outcome for her. But like in the repeating theme of "trying to control or tell others what to do" in this episode he did so by hurting people and trying to manipulate others. But I think he was acting on the spiteful side of his feelings for Juri, as well as his desire to help her because he feels more than just love. Jealousy and spite too.

The last couple of seconds of the video really re-contextualized the last two episodes. Maybe I'm wrong but I've always felt sympathetic to Ruka. It seems he was trying to save Juri from Shiori, who is toxic.

Subs are missing for the clips.

For this one, I see it as Ruka wanting to free Juri from her tangled feelings for Shiori, who's bad for her, and let her evolve past those emotions, but it's up to the rest of the episodes to see how that plays out.

I really can’t see the subtitles… can it be reuploaded? :(
