In the manga, they do have several flashbacks about Sugimoto and his childhood friends. They are usually short but sweet, and add some context into Sugimoto's actions and words. I personally love those very much.

2023-10-09 04:31:01 +0000 UTCThe best part of Golden Kamuy isn't the action, or the goofiness or the food. It's the relationship between Sugimoto and Asirpa. Sugimoto has brought Asirpa out of the Depression she went through after she lost her dad (the ED shows that really nicely) but in that same way, Asirpa has given Sugimoto some humanity back.
