On the point of banter being easier to write than plot, I've always found that to be absolutely accurate. A fully fleshed out character will just talk on their own without any conscious effort on the part of the author, while a plot will always require careful consideration. I can plop any one of my characters into any setting and they'll just act without my input, but coming up with the setting, and the reason for them being in the setting, and the connective tissue between settings is way, way harder. Characters are easy, dialogue writes itself if you have good characters, but narratives are always complex and difficult.

2023-10-14 02:08:21 +0000 UTCOne thing many seems to miss from the episode. Chisato and Mizuki, who knows Mika the best of all the characters, know he is gay. Which is why they said there is no way Mika would be with Kusonoki because she is a woman, and assume it is indeed a date when they see Mika dressing smart and encountering a man. So basically, they assume he was on a date with Shinji, but they know he is gay.
