MILD SPOILERY RESPONSE (just based on what's shown from the anime thus far)- i'd say it's a bit more than just "getting the most out of the little things" and more about "life is fleeting, cherish the people around you" which has a very different connotation. It's also displaying a very desperate form of mourning. Unlike most people who mourn by remembering the deceased and continuing on with their lives, Frieren instead is embodying her entire purpose for the sake of understanding someone she didn't attempt to. She collects spells because "this idiot complimented me for them," she revisits towns and villages that erected statues of him, even 20 years AFTER his passing, she chose to visit her other party members before they passed so she wouldn't regret it. All of her little mannerisms and goals are centered around one person, and the many flashbacks show the dichotomy of who she WAS before she realized his impact and who she BECAME after that realization. That. is the plot. Someone who has regrets, and wants to desperately backpedal and fix those regrets. And the fact that the MC, Frieren, is a stoic and unexpressive in most scenarios makes it even better. It gives it a little bit of extra oomph that her inner self and outer self are very different from each other, even if she herself hasn't realized it yet.

WARNING - OPINION and a little SPOILERY incoming... You may be right. Maybe I'll get more out of it as it progresses. At the moment though (without being too spoilery) the plot just seems to amount to "get the most out of the little things in life" - which is fine, but I don't see how that can fill a series.

Frieren is quite a pretty anime but so far seems a bit devoid of any plot or purpose. It just seems to meander along. Not really developing much empathy for the MC either - she seems aloof & disinterested as well as fairly boring. Thank god she's pretty.

Still holding strong for Skip to Loafer, it'll get there someday and at least it's consistently getting on polls. I'm not mad about the winners at all though, all great shows. I don't think even BSD fans need to worry, honestly.

It's a two winner poll, yes because that matters when you have the two most hyped shows from this season competing with two underdog shows from a couple of seasons ago, gee, I wonder who is going to win. From the moment this poll was conceived, Skip and Bungo never stood a chance.

I think the fact that it's the season 4 kinda influences on it too, so ppl who didn't watch the season 1 to 3 at least will have a low chance of voting for it. Skip to Loafer and Frieren are both season 1, so it's kinda easier to get votes.

Except I didn't ask for your opinion you just felt that your opinion was so important I needed to hear it. You could have just as easily kept scrolling. You could have seen someone who enjoyed something and kept walking but instead you felt the need to have this long tired conversation. I don't know what you get out of telling me SxF is boring. Personally, Skip & Loafer was super meaningful. It was SUCH a breath of fresh air after I was stressed out for a long time. I was practically giddy with relief watching it at some points. I really do love it. Its airy frank way of talking about stuff is so beautiful, and even the stuff that is stressful in the show is handled so well I think.
