The guy is clearly a genius, able to figure out how defensive magic works just from seeing it being cast a single time and is able to cast a terrifying amount of spells. But not only have he been gone for 80 years, with entire fields of studies being build around his spell and counter it, but he gets ganked less than 5 minutes after waking up. Imagine what he could have accomplished if he had been allowed to roam and learn for a bit. Maybe face a lesser mage, who haven´t spent the last 80 years preparing to wreck his shit.
