i feel like nana k and nana o both have never inquired about each other's past it's not just one sided. nana k didn't even talk about her family unless she was by nana k when her mom called or something like that...their current lives are so busy they've only had time to delve on that for their conversations and i think this is a kind of shift in their relationships bc they know each others backgrounds so much more. also think nana k cried bc of her insane overthinking skills which gives her this benefit of empathizing with ppls feelings rlly well, so much so she will fully ignore her own feelings to make someone else feel better. the beginning of the episode where nana k reveals her research but in her head says it's the only thing she can think about until she gets a bf and forgets ab shoji rlly shows how depressed she is and where her mind-state is...so all of it is interesting to say the least
