MARCH POLL - Fish Fertility Goddess

There are a lot of great fish species out there, fun designs and interesting histories, and I think it would be fun to take a regular fish and make them a kind of goddess-figure! The result will be anthro in design with fertility being the subject! The species must live on!

I included rather small handful of typical fish that you (yes, you!) could feasibly catch for yourself when going fishing! And yet, despite how common they are, they are strangely underrepresented... that said, knowing sharks are the most represented fish in anthro art, they will not be a part of this poll. Here are the fish with a brief description on what I know about them (with sprites from Stardew Valley!) :

Catfish
These bottom-feeders got their name from their prominent cat-like barbels/whiskers. They tend to be considered quite an invasive-species. Couple fun facts: they do not have scales, and have all kinds of nicknames in the southern US such as "mud cats" and "polliwogs"!
Lingcod
Despite their name, these popular fish in the west coast are neither related to a "ling" or a "cod". About 1 out of 5 lingcod have blue-green or turquoise flesh! The reason for their blue flesh is oddly still unconfirmed. Upon cooking the blue meat, the color is destroyed and the meat turns white like most other fish.
Sturgeon
These large fish have fossil records that date all the way back to the Triassic period, 200+ million years ago... their physical appearance has barely changed since then. They're dinosaur-fish! In Idaho, if you happen to hunt for them in the Snake River, they are catch-and-release only.
Rainbow Trout
These common fish are widely bred in fish hatcheries. The said hatcheries tend to trim off their adipose fin (tiny fin at the tops of their backs, near the tail) to indicate they were born and raised from a hatchery. The reason for this is that some regulations require wild non-hatchery trout to be released, so if the fish has an unclipped adipose fin, it cannot legally be harvested.

Pardon me nerding out a little bit on fish, but let's make a fairly ordinary fish into something extraordinary! The species will somewhat determine the overall aura and body-style etc.

Poll ends March 8 at 4pm PST. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you!

Comments

Catfish are great, I have yet to catch one IRL as there are none in my area... but I'd love to one day, and uh... taste them haha.

Javanshir

Hmm I'll consider these! I may do a more general catfish face but the red tail pattern may be a thing.

Javanshir

Could you do a red tail catfish or a shovel nose :)

Catfish!!! I love their big mouths, big bellies, and those fun whiskers!

Indighost Gengar / Lavender Spectre

catfish is such an easy choice for me; she could have my eggs any day and eat me up... literally??? i just love catfish haha. such a shame they're an invasive species and more often than not are seen in a bad light.

Shikka

Rainbow Trout. Definite joke about a trimmed fin and "keeping"

Sum Gai

Indeed! And due to the invasive-species nature, I plan on a kind of darker-aura. The descriptions have a little bit of clues related to what I have in mind for the image of the fish. Although... the lingcod won't be cooked... I just wanted to throw that fun fact out there.

Javanshir

Vote catfish cause you know she'll be the biggest!
