I’ll add this too. As someone who used to be in a cult I’ll note a few things here. The brainwashing she had was there and strong. And the book that she was hittin Carrie w was not the Bible, that much I know. Don’t know where it talked bout ravens and the first sin bein intercourse. I think she took her own past and just blamed Carrie for what happened

There is some things that are dated like some of the music, the fashion and such but I think it's what gives the movie it's charm. This movie is really just a tragic tell about bullying and abuse. Carrie is a very likable character and you feel awful for her, she truly thought she was dying in the beginning, she wasn't thinking about them making fun of her she just wanted help. Sue's intentions were always good and when you go back and re-match it you do see her pretty quickly feeling bad, I don't think she would have reacted that way on her own but that mob mentality got to her. I also think Tommy even though he was forced to by Sue ended up really caring for her and just wanted to give her a very special night and that's why he gave her that kiss. I think it was his way of showing her that he wanted to be there with her, not just forced to anymore which makes what happens to him even sadder. The bucket landing on his head did kill him, it's really the last straw for Carrie before her rampage. I like they keep Carrie some what innocent that whole time since she doesn't have control over her powers and she's completely going by her emotions, that's also why the house gets destroyed. I'm glad you guys recognized that not everyone was laughing after the pig blood, only a few. It was all in Carrie's mind, so many other reactors don't get that and think everyone is laughing including the teacher which of course she wasn't. So some fun facts: The moment when Norma gets hosed actually burst the actresses eardrum, the fire hose was so power, it's even in the final cut of the film too. Sue's mother is the actresses real mother and the whole shot of Sue walking to Carrie's grave was actually done in reverse, that whole time she's actually walking backwards, it was to give that uneasy feel. Another one that I think is so funny is the teacher was actually younger then some of the actresses playing the students and most of them were just a few years younger then her including Carrie.
