2023-09-03 04:04:48 +0000 UTCI love this movie! As soon as I saw your post I clicked to watch along. It never gets old. Such an incredible cast! Your reaction to Nathan Lane was how everyone reacted. He had been really successful on Broadway for a long time, but wasn’t well known outside the theater world. Everyone went to see a Robin Williams film and we were astounded that he wasn’t even the funniest in the film! Nathan and Robin were fantastic together and Nathan became a household name. I forget how old this really is. La Cage Aux Folles was a French play from the 1970s. Then it played on Broadway for a number of years in the 80s. It swept the Tony Awards. Of course, most people had never seen it in the theater, but it was still well-known — like Phantom of the Opera or Les Miserables or Hamilton. So the movie had a leg up, especially with Robin Williams in it. But Nathan Lane stole the show and made it a hit! Thanks for a fun watch along!
