2023-11-26 23:40:15 +0000 UTCSo I know this was a big hit and everyone loved it but I honestly thought this was kind of overrated, I thought it was good but I didn't love it, I just thought it was fine. I did love the performances, especially by all the Ken's, there big song number is my favorite part of the movie, I did laugh a lot and the cinematography was also really good, I loved how bright and vibrant the colors were. I actually took my 3 year old niece to this at the theater and anytime it was in the barbie world she was glued, she only got a bit restless when they went to the human world. But I also found this to be kind of pandering and the message shoved in your face and also felt like the ending dragged on a little too long. I don't think they utilized the human world enough and I thought they could have done some much more with it and Will Farrel I thought could have been used more. I'll probably also get a lot of slack for this but most of the time I found Barbie to be kind of unlikable, even though they made Ken be the villain which was a good idea I found him more likable and I genuinely felt bad for him. I was really on the Ken's side more then the Barbie's, lol. And I'll say another thing I did love was all the callbacks to the barbies, so many I remember playing with. Allen is a funny one because he was a real doll and he was labeled as Ken's buddy and the pooping dog was also a real thing, lol.
