Came here to say literally all of this! Yes! I was absolutely blown away by this movie and I had seen the Dark Side of the Ring episode, so, I knew what was coming and STILL was captivated by the story, the acting, the cinematography, the soundtrack! Such a beautiful film.

It was so nice to see a wrestling film being taken seriously and respectfully, there's no many and the few we do have make it out to be a joke or a silly comedy. I love how Kevin explained it and you saw how grueling and the hard work they were putting in. Everyone did such a good job, you really felt the bond between the brothers which was the real Kevin's biggest concern, he honestly didn't care what they did as long as that was showcased and I thought they accomplished that beautifully. My favorite scene is when Kerry unites with his brothers, it's so beautifully done. What I really love about it is they specifically put that in there to honor Kerry, he had said after he left he would reunite with his brothers and they made sure to do that. Chavo Guerrero was the wrestling choreographer and if you don't know him he's a pro wrestler whose also part of a big wrestling family and has had his fair share of tragedies too, so I'm sure he could understand Kevin in someway. He had a cameo in it, he was the first person you see Kevin wrestle against. Zac did such a good job, you could tell they all worked hard with the wrestling. Kevin really did wrestle with no shoes, he's one of the few to actually do that and I'm sure that wasn't easy for Zac. Now there were quite a few changes and I'll go over a few of them. The biggest one being there were exactly 6 boys, Chris the youngest had to be written out. He suffered from asthma as a child and because of the medication he developed brittle bone decease and it stunted his growth and gave him a lot of health issues. He was way smaller then his brothers and really wanted to wrestle and he did try but he got injured pretty quickly, he had issues with drugs and took his own life at 21. There's a few reason why they did this. 1, they were concerned that the audience wouldn't have been able to handle another tragedy or really believe it. 2, they were also concerned that as a film it might feel a little repetitive since he and Kerry took their lives similarly. And 3, I don't know if it was A24 or what but they couldn't allow a third suicide, so if he hadn't been written out the film wouldn't have probably been made. So, they chose to combine Chris and Mike, a lot of Mike's attributes in the film was more Chris. They did the same a little but with Chris and Kerry too. In real life it wasn't Kerry that Kevin found right after but Chris and he carried him like he did in the movie. He was with him right before and I can't remember why he left but he did and he realized he should go back but it was too late. Of course I would have preferred Chris in the film but I understand why they had to take him out. Luckily they talked to Kevin about it and he was okay with it. Honestly his only issue with the film was how they portrayed Fritz, he said he wasn't as rough as he was in the film. Kerry was also changed a bit, they don't talk about it very much but he wrestled with that prosthetic foot his entire WWF career without anyone knowing, including the other wrestlers and that took a toll on him, he was in constant pain. He actually was married with two daughters but at the time of his death he was most likely going to go to prison because of drugs. And Mike did go back to wrestling after what happened but he just wasn't the same and just like Kerry and Chris developed a drug habit as well. He was actually missing for 3 days before they found him and he was in a sleeping bag. There's a conspiracy theory that David actually died from a drug overdoes but Bruise Brody flushed or exposed of the drugs before the cops got there to save his reputation, Bruise Brody in the film was the guy with the big beard but again that was never proven. I recommend checking out a series called Dark Side Of The Ring, it's on youtube and there's an episode talking all about them, it's so fascinating. It is so tragic, Kevin seems like the nicest guy and despite all his tragedies still has a great aspect of life that's really great. His two sons are actually pro wrestlers now too.
