I must say, this was a first time watch for me as well. Watched right along with you and was my first star trek film. I am hooked now lol. Badass movie!!!!

2025-06-11 02:23:44 +0000 UTCThe really cool thing about this movie, and the sequels that come from it, is that they really are built upon the original tv series, and much more of the original movies with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy. This movie essentially gives you the backstory on all of the main characters and shows how they all come together in a bit of an alternate reality. There are so many lines and character traits that are a direct homage to the original movies. I really hope that we get to watch them together sometime. Then everything will fall into place and make complete sense. :). I love both Star Trek and Star Wars, so there's no need to be one kind of fan or the other. Totally different stories with totally different points. As far as Star Trek goes, all you need to know really are these prequel movies and the original 6 Star Trek movies made in the 80s and 90s. :). If you're going to explore any of the series in the franchise, I'd personally pick Star Trek: The Next Generation (or TNG for short) with Patrick Stewart as Captain Picard. Best of the all the series. :)

2025-02-17 09:24:34 +0000 UTCI can vouch that you can totally still watch the movies without the show, I never watched the show either but a couple years ago I watched all of the original cast movies and they were easy to follow and many of them very good. I only watched two of the Patrick Stewart ones and I will say those were less engaging to me, I got the vibe that those were made more for people who were already watching the new show. But it was really fun watching the OG cast through the years through their movies.

The hardcore Trek fans were mixed on the movie, with the new actors and the much more action movie feel, but I appreciate it as a easy introduction for new fans like you guys to get into the universe. I do hope you get to do the sequels and go back to do the original movies. All of the movies are watchable on their own, there are a couple key episodes that make them more understandable but you can watch Star Trek in any method you want and still enjoy it.

2025-01-03 23:03:36 +0000 UTCI'm a life long Trek lover. It took me a while before getting into them and when I did start, TNG was already on air. I was obsessed with how cool Patrick Stewart was as Captain Picard. I tried going back to TOS but I just couldn't get into them. Too outdated for me. Although I've seen more than a handful of episodes and some movies. Then Star Trek DS9 came and it was even better! Followed up by Voyager, with the first Trek female Captain leading a show! They are all my comfort shows now. If anything, you guys should watch like best 5 episodes of The Next Generation each season. There are great storylines that you will fall in love with. Trek has some of the best writing, character development, & world building on TV. Of course I recommend the whole series for DS9 and Voyager cuz the show becomes serialized but I'm sure that's just hopeful wishing.
