This show has been a bit of a cultural phenomenon, and we honestly didn't know much about it, beyond it being "that Zendaya show". So, that means it's time for another blind reaction! To say we were shocked is an understatement -- but this show opens the door to a lot of great conversations about mental health, addiction and social pressure. Beyond the art of the show, we really enjoyed what the show had to say.

Really enjoyed your conversation after the episode. I agree that Maddy could have used more context in her backstory but it is a good way to show how much a toxic relationship can destroy someone’s self-esteem even with someone as naturally confident as Maddy. PS. I interpreted Jules’ behavior the same way but also think Jules’ attachement style, as a result of her childhood, is a bit avoidant. She mostly does one night stands and she is more comfortable talking to “Tyler” online than Rue sometimes so her and Rue getting serious is probably scary too
