Ok I've spent some time last week testing and testing again and finally I have a nice workflow for making this type of videos, keeping the quality as high as posible while also keeping the time it requires to make them as low as I can, this video is now on the mega video folder now as well as a new 4K video made with one of my previous loops but slightly modified, in this post I want to show you one of the things I've been playing with, the dither filter, this I use to reduce the color banding present on all MMD videos, visible even in MMD's 3D view before you turn it into an avi, much more visible with shaders and in dark scenes, you can even see that on the textures themselves, my guess is that in order to reduce file size, the creator of the texture chose to have a lower quality texture, here you can see a comparison with both a low quality texture and a dark scene using the adultshader, you can see a clear example in the corner of the bed, dither introduces a slight amount of noise to mask color banding, there is a slight change in color but this can be easily corrected, of course there is a trade off for this, and that would be file size, using the very same compression settings, the video with dithering in place is at least 4 times larger, but that’s about it, the time it requires is about the same, for this videos it took me about and hour and half to make for a 1 minute loop, and that was before I started searching for a better way to do this, before it would take me almost 5 hours, so there was a big improvement, while making this video I also came to the conclusion that everything directly below or above from the place the camera is will be distorted so for this instance I had to remove the body the male since it was in the way and was getting distorted anyway, I am confident that pretty much any shader and effect can be used for this videos, except the ones that work in a random way, like water and smoke effects, since that would create very visible seams on the videos, N3+C shader, my shader of choice, changes the lighting depending of the camera’s perspective but I think even that can be solved, one of the most popular shaders lately, the ray cast shader can be used too, even though it bleaches the color of the scene and lacks the control that N3+C has, it is a candidate too, and as you can see the adult shader just works and there is no much need for corrections, just a matter of choice and time available for this, I will also be posting this video on iwara to test the quality of the videos once they are up in the site, the full quality version will remain exclusive to my patrons, enjoy and thanks for the support in the mean time I will keep working on the next motion.
