A interesting fact, the title of the episode is a callback all the way back to season 1’s finale. Rick tell Dr Jenner he’s grateful for helping him and his family and giving them a chance to live. And he responds by saying the Day Will Come When You Won’t Be, the title of this episode. That day has finally came 💔

2025-01-23 17:41:35 +0000 UTCBit of crazy perspective, Maggie lost Hershel, Beth and Glenn in the span of three months! And even crazier, I'm pretty sure season 7 and 8 take place over 3 weeks lol. Making everything from season 1-8 only 2 years of the apocalypse. I think part of why he didn't kill daryl as well was to punish him. Daryl being the "reason" Glenn died is a much better way for Negan to torture Daryl than just killing him. Your point about the CDC as well, when the scientist let's them leave Rick says "I'm grateful" and the scientist says "The day will come when you won't be" aka the name of this episode so in this moment Rick is probably wishing they had died in the CDC
