Sorry this is essentially a week late! But here's an update on where I am with the project here. Before you ponder "hmm, I don't see much of a change" check out the last update!

So I applied the local values of the image for the most part- refined the shading, cleaned up quite a bit of sketchy lines that were left. I admit, I was very intimidated by the background. Tackling this the way I do meant keeping the image all on one layer eventually.
This may prove quite challenging later, but that's what selections are for(not saving myself any time doing it this way though, haha).
The biggest challenge I find when I do involved paintings like this is going from drawing to somewhat-realistic-lighting/detailing is you notice flaws in your shapes and anatomy, and I'm not one to usually let things go, so I do what I can to correct it. One example is the arm holding the drink was far too long, the eyes were too far apart, too. It works fine on the drawing/sketch stage, but not so much when translating to the illusion of 3D, I think.
Oh and don't worry if you feel the shading is too intense! I fiddled around with some effect layers for presentation purposes. There's still tons of time for me to mess with the light and change things up. Things left to do:
+ Adding Water(and splash effects!)
+ Refining edges, for the background and everything else
+ Adding color!
+ Then comes all the REAL fun stuff, editing and lighting adjustments, playing around.
Anyway! Thanks for your time reading about my thoughts on how this is coming along. Don't be shy on commenting! Any thoughts or questions about the process lemme know.
