Nuki News #8 - A Year on Patreon!

Well, technically a year since I made this Patreon account! I’ve learned a lot since then, and admittedly I’m excited to find out what Future-Me a year from now will have learned when he looks back on where I am now. I think that’s going to be the best thing about these NukiNews posts, getting a post stamp of where I was in time. 

To celebrate this occasion, I’m gunna do something big! If you comment with a link to a ref, and are my patron this month, I’ll draw my sona Artie hugging your fursona! I admit, I have no idea how many of these I’ll get, but I will be trying to post them all in one post here on Patreon, and 4 at a time elsewhere(I’ll make the post free to view so if you aren’t able to support me longer than this month, you will still get to see it if you make sure you click ‘follow’ on my page! 

Alright, onto the news! Which is, what has Patreon taught me in this past year? I think it’s been an exercise in finding value in what I have to offer people, and being consistent and accountable. I’ve tried a few things, and a lot of it didn’t quite work(Trying to make exclusive art for instance) but what did work was having open-ended suggestions(choosing what pokemon or character to draw). But ultimately when I re-worked this Patreon in January, I knew I should move away from making my general posts here be transactional, and more long-term value building with a proper goal in mind. 

If this Patreon page didn’t give it away, “Artie is creating an Art Journal on becoming a Full Time Furry Artist!” Which is as long-term as it gets. I know there is, and there definitely will be furry artists who want to immerse themselves in the community to do awesome work for fellow furs for a living. If I can figure out how to do this, to be successful doing something I love waking up to, I will be able to give back and help other artists in this wonderful community of creative and welcoming people. Every pledge being made is in a way going into this ‘research’ of mine to make this work! This likely won’t be the final iteration of this patreon or how I do things either, in fact  I'm sure even after I finally make the leap to full-time artist, I'll have the struggle of keeping up with it.
