Nuki News #19 - Half a Year Down! Another to go!

I gotta say, June particularly flew by after the initial week. With another 3 months passing and marking half of the year being over, there’s a fair bit to discuss. But first, to get you up to speed, I’d reread my first quarter review here:

https://www.patreon.com/posts/nuki-news-10-3-35784368

Going off of what I noted in that post, things are surprisingly looking up. For instance, I went from reaching 29% of my financial goal in March to reaching a whopping 92% of my financial goal for the year(haha, looks like I mirrored the numbers!). I also nearly tripled my stream time from just over 50 hours of streaming in March to 147 hours as of now, streaming a total of 35 times. I’ve posted about 52 pieces of art this year, which is where I slumped in the last 3 months, only getting out less than 20 images. Now, I’m no art machine, but I would’ve liked to at least get out a similar amount to what I put out in the initial quarter of the year. I’m very ahead on the other two metrics though, and I can probably point at my dayjob’s work schedule and my energy levels to why I hadn’t gotten out as much artwork. Still, these are results I’m proud of, and spell real good things for what I can do to support myself as an artist.

(Pardon my crap handwriting behehe)

With that in mind, I’ve been reading a book a month, things to do with self help or business, and noting down what things i can apply to my own art pursuits. I may actually do book reviews for my Nuki News posts in the future to give what I thought and my take-aways from them! On top of that, this month I sent out a questionnaire to 20 furry artists on their experiences with doing art freelance for their living or main source of income. Even though I have a lot of preparation, it’d be wise to have all the experience I can get from others who have already tried to walk this path I’m moving toward.

As a closing thought, I noticed something I thought I’d do in my last review post- try to draw something on this laptop before I start work. I’d probably have better luck exercising before work, really. In fact, I’ll make that the habit I get into after waking up. Let’s saaaay….5 pushups. I get out of bed, roll onto the floor. 5 push ups. We’ll see where that gets me, as staying at home as I have been, exercise hasn’t been a major focus.

Thank you so much for your support by the by- 6 months into this journey I’ve really gone beyond what I thought I’d manage. For the next quarter ahead,  I’m at a point where I can be flexible with my goals(such as not opening for as many commission slots) while I try to work on other things like getting in personal art or practice in. I have been wanting to push on developing my style to better execute all the art I need to get done, which I feel will include simplifying my approach further.  If you’re ever unable to support my patreon financially, that’s alright too, you can always click that follow button on my page and you’ll get all my posts still, just 3 weeks later. All the comments and likes showing me you’re reading means a lot!

Haha, every year feels like starting again, with a clean slate. I have come along way, thanks Macxi! I am glad I could help demonstrate the power of work ethic. Its never easy, I can say that. But the results do make it feel worth it. Hopefully as I move towards freelancing full time I can make these nukinews posts even more helpful.

My gosh, dude, you’ve grown so much through the years... it’s so cool to see you making so much leeway toward your goal, and frankly it inspires me a lot since the journey is only just beginning for me. I got a lot of my current work ethic and discipline being around artists like you, and it’s been such a joy to see the surge in followers and fans of your art. Here’s hoping you break into that freelance gig soon (and I’ll definitely have to ask you for tips eventually!)

Youve always been such a supportive voice to me Sunny, thank you! I can say im surprised Ive never yet felt "eugh. ill put this weeks post off" or anything. Its been a habit ive grown into. I hope to do more habits to get myself to a more independent state where im taking better care of myself and balancing work.
