BIG plans around the corner! BIG changes, it´s time...
Added 2021-03-23 16:05:07 +0000 UTCDear Patreons,
last saturday Chrizzy got hurt while recording the "Twerknado" MoCap. It was the second time now we had an accident like this in a short period. This time she got hurt more seriously and is forced to pause movement intense recording at least for a few weeks. But don´t worry! She´ll be fit pretty soon again and according to the MoCaps we´re just switching release dates. But there is more we wanted to say.
First, why did it happen?
Even with a nearly 100% fit between actress and the model in VR there is a slight offset and movement lag. No problem for slow moves, or just XXX scenes. But you want to turn her around, FAST, over and over again. you want to twerk dat Butt, FAST, you want to have a choreography, a great show and smooth moves on the floor, on the bed, on the chair and whereever you can think off. At this point we discorvered a invisible and dangerous wall. A wall wich frustrates you because you can´t push any further. A wall wich claims its tribute whenever we try to get over it. Time to break through! And today we need your help more than ever.
Whats the plan?
We want to abandon the VaM intern recording mechanics. Enough is enough. No more tracking losses when the record is nearly PERFECT and Steam VR decided just to cut the tracking for a second. No more tapping in the dark and no more injuries! This plan should be realized pretty fast (3-5 months we think). The ability to record with Vive trackers is really cool and this is how we pushed the limits so far until now but this is not the standart we´re targeting and we want you to enjoy in the future. We want to invest in a professional extern full body recording kit. This kit with everything needed for the beginning will cost aprox 3000$ and is really really really cheap for a professional recording kit. It will also open the doors to finger motion capture and facial motion capture. The possibilities are endless and the perspective while looking at VaM 2.0 are just breathtaking.
So just to summarize....
- Full Body recording without any tracking losses
- Extended, more intense and realistic shows
- more detailed movement
- Greatly improved interaction with objects such as beds, chairs, sofa and so on ( because there is no need for the Vive Headset)
- BVH file fomrat allows to use our core animation in ALL other applications!
- Both, Chrizzy and Nathalie needed a leats two weeks of practice to get into VaM recording properly
-> No need for a big tutorial! So we finally we can invite different actress we know for records!
- Less time for recording, more time for post procession!
- AND a minimum risk for an injury due record
The only thing we need is the equipment and some time to learn the process of recording & importing into VaM the proper way without any losses.
We really hope you will still give us your trust and support in this time of big changes!
Your C&G-STUDIO Team
Ps: The Trackers still will be needed for animations in wich we think a full body kit would be not what we want to have since the vam recording system has its benefits too.

2021-03-24 07:41:43 +0000 UTCShe´ll be fine soon. Luckily she was able to record the "Show Off" MoCap coming up this friday. Yes, a lot to do and I´ve started to research what I need. I am pretty optemistic and think the quality will greatly increase.

2021-03-23 21:00:20 +0000 UTCI hope Chrizzy is feeling better! Agreed that you'd want to use BVH as an intermediary format and end up with native VAM animation. But in process you get to take advantage of all the BVH tools out there. Good luck getting everything set up!

2021-03-23 20:59:56 +0000 UTCYep, I know about this plugin. The intention is not simply to record and throw it into VaM like a hot steak but to find a way to trasfer the performance smooth as silk into VaM to get the maximum out of performance. How exactly. Honestly I dunno but what I know is that its going to be possible somehow like everything else wich seemed impossible but know its a part of the VaM world (Gato)

2021-03-23 17:02:55 +0000 UTCI presume you know of the BVH import plugin for VAM? I used it before and I have a lot of sample BVH motion captures that were done by some professional system like the one you are talking about. I have not used it for a long while. As far as I remember the motions were not easy to get correct on VAM models for some reason. Think there is new BVH player - "https://hub.virtamate.com/threads/bvh-player-by-elkvr-and-vradultfun.3775/". I presume you would not be using BVH directly though, but converting it somehow - as a Timeline motion might be best.
