Important information: Big archive overhaul & PW-System update

Dear patrons and everyone interested in our work: We hear you out!

Today we want to announce a big change going to happen to our whole archive and the whole password system shortly.

With an already big content library and while frequently adding new content to it our current system came to an absolute end of usabilty vs. security. In the last few months numerous patrons sent us mails with not only critics but also constructive ideas how to handle our situation.

Thank you for your ideas, patience and being active in our community helping us to develop and making things better.

So together with our partner POGVR we developed a new system. Before we get to the facts about the new system let's just sum up the old one.

OLD SYSTEM

-> C&G-STUDIO folder as "mega" archive
-> Inside the C&G-Folder are folders with all content numbered chronological
-> Inside each folder is a RAR file which is password protected
-> Patrons receive a password list to extract each RAR file using the chronological numbers withing the password list and the file archive

The core problem (besides of other more functional problems with this system) is bascially we have too much content for it which means until today as a new patron you have to use about 60 single passwords to extract each file on it's own. This system would of course more likely work if we had like one or two productions which get updated once in a while, but that's not the case.

And.... with every release you are getting a new password to extract the new scene. This is a mess and could break down any motivation unpacking everything which is sad because you are missing so much cool content!

Like mentioned there are way more problems about it but this should not be the point now.


So now let's have a look at the new system


NEW SYSTEM

Basically our new archive will have two folders.....

Folder 1: Big "C&G-STUDIO" archive with all content available except for content of the running month

Folder 2: Monthly folder in which we store the releases of the running month

-> The files are stored inside the C&G-STUDIO folder as .var files without subfolders which makes it easy just to download and drop everything right inside your AddonPackages folder

-> The files are NOT packed separately. Again, NO Rar file and NO chronological file structure. Just drag & drop.

-> This means also NO password list and passwords anymore.


Ok and how does it work, where is the security?


1.) Patrons receive a link to our big archive in the beginning of every month as direct message or (if you are a new subscriber) within the welcome note. This link expires each month. We replace the link and sent the new one out to our patrons.

2.) The Folder for the content of the running month which will be called "April Releases" for example will contain subfolders with each release. With every release we will DM you the link to this particular release.

3.) In the end of each month we move all releases from the "running month" folder into our big archive and like mentioned above renew the link to it which will be sent out to you again.

This system is going to start on the 2nd of april 2022. New links to the big archive are sent out each month between the 1std and 4th.

In the following days there might be some strange things happening in our file archive, so just be aware of the fact we're working on it and want to create a smooth transition to the new system.

* Edit: There is also going to be a separate txt. file with our releases in chronological order AND a separate folder containing all "show covers". Those won't be stored together with each release anymore.
