Added 2025-06-07 07:47:14 +0000 UTCBack in May, I watched a review of Netflix's anime, which they based on the short story "A Little Sacrifice." One of the most touching stories, in my opinion. Naturally, there was almost nothing left of the story, and Sh'eenaz turned out to be some strange sexless beast. 🙃
🧜♀️ In protest (and just out of love for the original source) I decided to draw Sh'eenaz as it was described in the book.

🖌️ Еще в мае я посмотрела обзор на аниме от Нетфликс, который они базировали на рассказе «Немного жертвенности». Одна из самых трогательных историй, по моему мнению. Естественно, от истории там почти ничего не осталось, а Шъееназ оказалась какой-то странной бесполой зверюгой. 🙃
🧜♀️ В знак протеста (и просто по любви к первоисточнику) я решила нарисовать Шъееназ такой, какой она была описана в книге.

2025-06-08 08:04:34 +0000 UTCI didn't say the anime was bad. Maybe it has a right to exist as an original work. My complaint is that it's a completely different story and design of the mermaids. The mermaids are so monstrous that I wouldn't be surprised that Agloval also tried to marry the Drowner. Same vibes. Lol

2025-06-07 16:42:55 +0000 UTCI'd give the anime a chance. Yes, there were changes from the original story, but to me, they better conveyed the themes the original was going for. It's also far from sexless, even if the merfolk were given more modest appearances.
