Progress Update: New Patreon video soon (I hope!)
Added 2024-07-07 20:41:28 +0000 UTCHi! Quick text update since I'm not posting a video today, only justify it and show my progress. I didn't forget, but I'm still testing out the new models.
I did figure out how to make them look better from textools to Blender.

Here's so far how Lizard is looking! She looks much more pale than in my usual videos, which actually reflects her game model more accurately, but I still think her skin could look better. I did figure out a way to make her limbal rings appear though! Maybe not the way as it was "intended", but I found my own, simple solution:
Here's with a light placed on the scene so we can see the glow. The skin also looks better with the lights on.
And G'raha...his clothes are so much more detailed now! He's still looking more pale than he should, but I still have to test him in an environment with lights to see if it's working better, and adjust accordingly. I think the clothes are looking fine, but the skin, again, is the issue.
The shaders feel a little more complex than they were and I have to learn a little better the best simplest way to put them together. A few more hours of testing might just do the trick!
Next video will definitely be step by step on how I got there, but I just want to make sure it works the best and I tested it enough until I'm able to explain it in a clear way. Please look forward to it. :P
This week I will be working on this, and putting the models and shaders togethers of every character I will use on my next video. That would be Lizard, G'raha, Alphinaud, Alisaie, Y'sthola, Urianger, Thancred, Estinien...and the NPC "Wordly Affairs Official"...
So I will record the next ones as I build them.
The rigs I still have to work on, and I might wait for a few days to see if Mektools is updated, since Meku posted on their discord that they are working on an update for the tool based on Dawntrail! This might make things easier for everyone, so it might be worth giving it some time and waiting for it a while longer. They do an amazing job working on this tool, and it's what made it possible for me to get started making videos at all!
The old system still works, except for the new bones in the face, which it probably is just a matter of figuring out which bone to join where so they could follow - kind of like what we have to do with the hair bones, but since I have many other characters to put together, I might as well as wait until they're all ready for the next step before worrying about it.
So thank you very much for your patience, and I hope to have a new video here soon!
