Edit: This video is outdated now! I released a new version with this step by step over here. Thank you!!!
Hello! Today's video is how I'm putting together characters from Textools to Blender after the graphical update.
If you already have experience getting the models from before, then there might be nothing really new in this video, since the basics are pretty much the same. I still hope this can be helpful to beginners anyway! I go over how to get the pieces from the characters you want, how to export them, and how I tweak them to make them look better in Blender.
I'm no expert in the shader part, and I'm still trying to figure things out after the update, so things still might change in the future. For now, I'm just showing the very basics of what I know.
Here is where you can get Textools.
And the link for the mentioned Mektools!
And here are my custom texture maps for the Limbal Rings. Feel free to use it for yourself as well:
This is the one you connect to the Emission Color in the Eye shader.
Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback! I'll do my best to help out.
Thank you very much for watching and for your support :)
Edit: Hi! I recently found out how to get the dye colors directly on textools without having to edit them later! So it's not in the video, but here what you have to do:
Select this option:
It will open the material menu. Look for the "View/Edit Colorset" button.
To your right, there's a dropdown menu where you can pick the dye you want.
After you pick the dye you want, Click on "Dye All Rows" and select the Dye Channel. If it's an updated gear with two, you can choose exactly which one you want, otherwise, just "Dye All" or the first one works. Then, "Save to FFXIV".
Textools make it so you have to be on "Unsafe mode" to pick this option, because it will alter the game files directly, so be aware of that.

When you go back to the model preview, it will be the color you chose:

Now you can add it to the FMV, or just export the piece speratadly in FBX, that the texture file will be the right color:

I hope this helps! Sorry for not including it in the video, I'm still figuring out stuff. If you have any other questions please let me know and I will do my best to figure it out!
