WIP: Things are going well

HELLO!!! Hope you all had a nice week.

Progress in the next video is going well~

There's only 2 shots left to animate! One is the longest one, but the challenging part about it is probably going to figure out how to add a specific effect I want...and the other has Thancred in it, which means I have to rig another character and I'm procrastinating. And because Dawntrail changed Thancred's face to...not Thancred, I might consider using the old one this time, unless it looks too out of place.

There's a few effects from the game I'm trying to recreate in premiere for this video, and there's some others yet to add here. This timeline is going to get messier. Video total is settled to 28 seconds though!

I'd say it might take me 1 more week to finish it? Maybe a little less, maybe a little more.

Also I'm just enjoying the new facial controls a lot!! Eyebrow movements look much more refined now, and "sculpting" a prettier mouth shape is getting easier. I don't even know if this video is the best one to show everything they can do, but I'm trying to have fun with the minor movements when I can. I hope you're able to notice it!! It was already good to figure out the best way to do certain faces and which controls to prioritize.

Another thing I'm really happy with, is that I should have updated to the newest version of Blender a long time ago!! The lightning and render settings (in Eevee, at least) are actually easier to get better results than what I had! I'm also easily getting the results I wanted with motion blur in Blender, which I used to add in post. Now it looks more realistic, and it's actually very easy to control. :)

There's probably even more I can do directly with Blender, but other than those differences, most of the process is still the same. Screenshot backgrounds, effects mostly as overlays in premiere, the usual. But I want to test having the game environments in Blender again for a future video. I assume some things must have changed to get them because of the graphical update...

...also kinda unrelated but, hey guys, BeneG released another G'raha video and it traumatized me again :P. Sadly this time I won't be able to make a reaction video like I did last time or it would completely mess up my schedule with work and my own video. I kinda feel like I'm disappointing a few people that were hoping I'd react to it :') please understand. But oh, he's also using the new updated rigs! And you can tell by uh...the way his mouth...stretches. Yep. It's cool to notice the new "features" anyway.

(and by the way, that was the one DT scene I disliked the most, even the original. I actually think I like BeneG's version better)

And that's it for the updates. I'm very excited to finish the video, hopefully it won't take that long to figure things out!

Thank you for your support!!!

I'm glad to know I'm not alone! :') I think that kind of cringe just doesn't fit G'raha in my opinion... Thank you so much!!!

I didn’t like the ice cream scene as well😅 I understood his intentions but it was still very cringey 🫣 I can’t wait for the new video🤩 When I saw the BeneG video I did wonder how liz would react, but I think the last video reaction is much better so I’m happy you did that 😄

Thank you, I'm happy to hear that!! I'm really excited to finish this one. Yeahh that scene was...not...easy to swallow. Specially when it happened just a while after the gondola scene... The BeneG animation ending was great though, I headcanon that's what her dad would say now. :P

Liz Ard

Oh I understand :') that's true, the intentions are there, I can see that's what they were going for...but idk what happened, the characters feel...different.

Liz Ard

But yeah i feel none of the scions really acted like themselves

I mean true i didnt like the scene i just try to rationalize it somehow but yeah i feel its weak writing but tbh i kinda tuned it out...

I love seeing these updates! Also, I totally understand what you mean with the ice cream scene lol. That took me by surprise. The animation BeneG did was also a little unsettling haha. The new rigs are awesome though! Excited to see the final product you are putting together!

I can see that was the intention...or rather, if they were going for cringe, the it was definitely successful to me. :P but yeah, just answered with a long rant below on my opinion, hope you don't mind. I get overly invested overthinking about it, please excuse me

Liz Ard

Sorry long rant, but my opinion about the scene is that G'raha never seemed like the type of person to make a fool of himself in that situation (or any - so far we've never seen him make a fool of himself on purpose). He always demonstrated to be someone that always knew what to say in every situation. We often saw him comforting people, starting conversations, being a perceptive, empathetic person that understood how people felt. Also, Krile is supposed to be a close friend (so much so that she calls her Raha...despite her just 2 minutes before introducing him to her parents as "a colleague from the Students"), and yet he didn't have anything to *say* to help? He could've talked about stories Krile could say, say something to spark a conversation, or maybe if he were to do anything, instead of being cringe and awkward, do something that would, realistically, start a meaningful conversation. If anything, even if they thought it was funny, they would only...start eating the ice cream. They wanted us to believe it did, but like many other moments, it just fades to black, and we don't see it happening, we don't get to know what they talked about, and how it even started, other than "now we are eating ice cream". It's supposed to be the one bonding moment of Krile and her parents, but we don't see it, and it's robbed by a cringe, meaningless ice cream scene - the fact that is also yet another scene with G'raha eating food makes it even more artificial, makes me feel like he is being flanderized, and like they wanted this scene to be there only to spark memes and fanart. As soon as it's over, they go back to talking about plot and lore dumping, (which was also G'raha asking about, and imo also felt out of character). Plus, from what we've seen of Krile in past expansions, I don't think she is the type to laugh at that, and not even in the original scene her parents did either. Even watching the original, my reactions watching it were much closer to BeneG's animation than the characters in DT :x In short, I don't like it because: -the characters reactions feel unrealistic and out of character; -it's a meaningless scene, when we could've had a heartfelt moment of Krile bonding with her parents instead + maybe even an opportunity to show her friendship with G'raha -it felt artificial and forced considering it's G'raha with food (again) :') but of course, it's my own personal interpretation of it. I can't bring myself to like this scene no matter how much I think about it, but please don't let it ruin it for you if you do.

Liz Ard

That or im on copium but i wanna believe graha would make a fool out of himself to lighten the mood better than it just being "graha like food hehe"

Tbh I feel the ice cream scene was made to be mega cringe since he wanted to not make it as tense for krile and her parents.
