Dodleston Messages revisited

Hey gang... you know the "Dodleston Messages" / time travel episode? Where Deb and Ken are getting messages from the past and the future through their computer? And Thomas' book is hidden in the Oxford library? This one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aXG5R4HRlgs

Deb reached out and wants (possibly) to talk about the story, address some details that people are getting wrong, give an update, etc.

So 1... Are we interested in adding a long form interview? Or does it dilute the channel?

And 2... Assuming I can make this happen, what would you like to learn / have me ask?

Comments

Who has that computer now? LoL

M. Minor

Hopefully this is still happening!

Josh Punk

I'm new. But that would have been awesome.

Garett

I’m late to this comment and new to Patreon but yeah! Do it!

Joshua

Any in the near future and where? Thanks

Trevor Ames

I live near Dodleston and took my Mum and kids to the house a few weeks ago - we have all read the book. My brother is a detective and is reading it next so lets see what he makes of it. He like me learnt to code on a BBC b and my husband knows the electronics of them well. Would have posted our day out photos but can't here on Patreon. Eldest son wants to buy the house and turn it into an Air B&B for those who like wormholes.

rachel dunscombe

The UFO investigator in the book still does talks locally here in England/Wales

rachel dunscombe

Yes to the update

Chris Pomfrett

Definitely - I'm also relatively familiar with the BBC computer that they had (been a while since I used one though).

Richard Watt

Love a long update!

TheGingerDivine

Heck yea!! I’d watch that…. She probably loves the WF as well.

Crazy World

Would absolutely watch it. With so many of these kinds of stories, we don't get the opportunity to hear from the actual people involved. It would be a real shame to miss this one.

Melissa Fine

I know you're not much for live or unedited videos or podcasts but they really are more enriched with undeniable ways of really feeling people and their stories out and having a better idea of what to make of it. Not that I don't like polished and edited stuff that really flows because I do. But in this case, long form is definitely a big yes from me. 👍

Ten Toes Gaming

Dude this was an amazing story. Tying up any loose ends would be really neat. Curious what more details she has to give. I say go for it

Levi Hart

I watched this one a couple of days ago. Would love to see the continued saga.

Chris Godfrey

I would like to see the interview and get an answer to how they would be able to understand our language in the 1500s.

Jeff Lamb

Just putting in my vote on this. I'd like to see this interview

Zanythos

This would be interesting! I think it's another way to add a new dimension by interviewing follow ups. If you love streamed it that would be a good way to have that dynamic as well and allow an interactive discourse during the interview too.

Nom de Why

+1 on an interview, breaking from the standard format isn’t bad, once in a while, or even more often.

John Gasper

You can file this under “guy on internet has an opinion” but I wouldn’t do the interview. You have a great format going. If you do the interview but edit the interview into your normal show format, that’s gold Keep up the great work

Evets Trebeh

Yes absolutely!

Alex Duquette

👋 Hi, late here, but yes to an interview , that will be awesome. I enjoy all the variety you bring. 👍 - good luck!

Charly H

I see LJ asked, + 1 on what LJ said

Josh

AJ, I would love to see an interview with Deb. I cant see any scenario where this could dilute the channel; it could very well enhance it. I'm not sure if this has been brought up by any of the other patrons, but would you be willing to ask Deb if they ever asked Lukas how he was sending/composing his messages?

Josh

Interview 100%

Kerry Pitt

I think a special event episode where you interview Deb would be very interesting. My husband and I still don’t understand how Lukas/Thomas in the 1500s would’ve been able to transmit his messages-did he just speak into something?-if so, what? I know something was mentioned about someone coming out of the fireplace and giving him something but that was towards the end of the story I don’t know if that was what was given to him originally. So we would just like you to ask her for clarification on that-what did Lukas use to compose and send his messages?

L.J. Hynd

New here, Hi from argentina, love your videos man, and definitely an interview with deb would be awesome to watch. The world is a wonderful place full of mysteries that get dilluted in the everyday news, so anything that contributes to the wonder is always welcome :)

Willdesigns

Also it won't dilute the channel, on the contrary it will add immensely to the channel and will be something totally unique that others who have covered this story haven't been able to do. Good luck :)

Manumelita Ngamai

I'm a little late sorry but it would be amazing if you could do an interview with Deb, keeping it serious and respectful of course as I know you would. Rather than specific questions I'd just like to hear her perspective on the story and how it impacted her :) Thank you AJ and Hecklefish

Manumelita Ngamai

it wasn't Thomas running what was happening. He was given his own strange machine at his end from the unknown entities. Deb really won't have an answer to those sorts of questions beyond what was already written in the book, but the UFOlogist got a lot more info and insists to this day that it really happened and still vehemently defends the story in posts online despite having had nothing to do with the books. Anyway yeah Thomas didn't 'type' - he spoke into the machine given to him at his end, and Deb's and Ken's messages were spoken outloud to him when he received them :)

Manumelita Ngamai

Yes!!! And +1 for Hecklefish asking questions :)

Joe Keller

I’d go for it 👍

Mauricio Carrillo Tripp

I think it’s an awesome idea. And of course Hecklefish needs to provide his input in some way, too!

Alysia Wolf

As long as Hecklefish can ask a question.

Noah Laughton

Greetings, A.J., I loved that video I have gotten four people to subscribe due to that one and Ingo Swann. Regardless, and I don't want to sound exploitive here, At the very LEAST, it's an actual "Scoop" on the fringe side of news topics. Keep your trademark compassion, let the golden sidekick be the fin in the ass as it were if need be, it could advance the channel like a stone to a slingshot, an exclusive with potential BBC interest just for starts? Put a teaser half interview online, but the heart of the story behind a wall. As they say there is no such thing as bad publicity (with one possible exception dealing with kids in a dark way and nothing further needs to be typed (as I cringe at the thought) )

C.D. Strahle

That would be great!

William Cook

Does not dilute at all. Love to hear from her.

Rvator

Yes please!!!

Braian Cano

I think it would be a great idea… it would be interesting to know how they feel about it now, after all these years.

Patch

I've just read the book and still in two minds about this. An interview with someone that was there would be awesome. Please do that if it could be arranged.

Trevor Ames

yess, do it

leaf Howell

Clarification interview would be awesome

Stella.R

I am reading the book now and an interview would be really cool. But honestly, don't ask me why, I'd prefer a report on the interview than a long form full blown one, with a few clips from the interview.

WKC 852

Up until now you debunked or confirmed a lot of stories and local legends, I think it would definitely be good for the channel to do this, if HeckleFish agrees of course. One of the language experts completely debunked the style of writing used, for me that was a red flag….and screams hoax….I am curious what she has to say about that

Rob Haarlem

Absolutely go with it. Just the mere fact that she reached out and wants to set some things straight, it would be exclusive to this channel. No questions here because we're talking about the realms of the supernatural, what I think I may know are all but assumptions. I'm all ears AJ/Hecklefish

Azriel Nguyen

I think thats would be really awesome. I whole heartedly believe that you have the talent, the personality, and the creativity to make even a long form interview into an excellent final product. The WF brand, certainly seems to be attractive and interesting to LOTS of people. While i dont have any questions off the top of my head, i am super, super intrigued that after so many years, she still wants to come forward to clarify details about the event! Its a pretty far out story that i believe would be all to easily dismissed or forgotten about if it was purely a hoax. Lets go for it! Fingers and fins are crossed that you get the unbelievable opportunity to do this. Lucky duck AJ!

Scott Way

Do it! This could be a turning point for the channel (both in a good OR a bad way). Good if you still try to debunk it and ask the tough questions (and at the end maybe still come out with a great story), bad if you are too nice and avoid conflict. So I think you should only do it if you are willing to burn some ground.

RETRO is the new black

YES BUT ONLY IF HECKLEFISH AGREES!!! GO HECKLE YOU'RE MY BOY!!

Smitty

Make it IF = Info Files, and give the same title of the WF, with several parts if needed. Don't go for interview style, it will sound like a podcast. Take the parts from the WF there's questions about and tell us what Deb says about them. I have a ton of questions. 1 - what was that about Lukas in jail? How were they able to get him out? 2 - Was there any poltergeist manifestation or not? 3 - Did they ever saw the messages appearing on the screen? 4 - The whole computer moved to the bathroom? And was plugged in and all? 5 - Does the place still exist and whoever lives there today is having any kind of activities?

Paula Soto Maior

Maybe do a full length interview unedited for pateon and an edited short version on youtube.

Shepard Book

What would Hecklefish do?

ed pluck

I'd like to explore the whole computer angle. I actually have an Acorn BBC Model B behind me, and there are only two possible ways a spirit or ghost could interface with it. 1) Sending electrical pulses across the circuit board. This would require a solid understanding of the circuit board, the chips, the CPU, the tolerances etc., something I suspect a middle-ages ghost might struggle with. 2) the old-fashioned way via the keyboard. In '85 a lot of the living struggled with this, and it's worth noting the BBC Computer requires a certain amount of energy to press the keys. Energy that could have been used in a more conventional form of communication. Pen and paper, Ouiji board, lining up match-sticks on the floor etc. All a lot easier for a 400-year-old ghost, than learning how to use BBC Basic or some installed word processing ROM. It just strikes me that in '85, computers were all the rage, particularly in the UK. A bit convenient for the story IMHO. Now while she might duck the question by saying, 'I'm no computer expert' presumably, computer experts have commented and offered possible ways a spirit could interface with the machine. It doesn't stack up for me.

William Matthews

Go with it. Longform. The only way the channel would get diluted is if you weren't the one interviewing. It enhances your credibility.

Kim Dabney

How exciting! I’m going to rewatch the video and make a thoughtful reply on what we could gain by this opportunity.

Victoria

100% yes, having someone come on the channel that was involved in the original story is icing on the cake. Add to the mystery or maybe try and debunk it; I don't see a way this won't work out. Even as just a one-off, this is definitely the type of story that I would welcome any new information, and having her come on for an interview would be excellent!

Kyle P

i feel like one of the big advantages that you have is the "going that much further into the details". Interviewing an actual story participant just further adds to that model. Even if her story is all made up, lets hope it doesnt include magical seal fetuses. You can tell it her way and then debunk it.

Miketpi

Facts can never delude. Yes

Kevin Via

YES!!!!!!!

AlyKat

Do it!

Robert Cowie

I’d love to see that! Whether it’s patreon only or on your channel I’m sure it will get watched!

Grace Cupcake

I’d watch a long form.

Luke Wells

I think it would be interesting to do follows ups and interviews to hear people’s side of the story, but I would also like a little pushback during questioning. That was probably my favorite episode, or at least up there, but I’m not buying anything she’s selling. I think it was a small prank that got way out of hand and they feel forced to double down on it instead of just coming clean. If she was willing to come clean I would have 100 questions on how the hoax started and all that, but knowing she’ll pushing a narrative and most likely will be trying to push the book, I can’t really think of anything. I’ll just be interested to see how it goes.

Yung Nui$ance

Please continue as those who chose not to see can chose not to look. As for me, well “why” are we here? Lol GO FOR IT! Is she a tall blonde? Lol watch it! UHH HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM.

Mark william lane

Absolutely. I don't see it diluting the channel. See how it "feels" and how your viewers react. It could just end up being a one-off. I'll have to go back and watch the episode and will see if I have questions.

MikeD

I would love to hear an interview from you and her. Even before your video, I had heard about this mystery and I haven't quite made up my mind about what really happened so any new information and clarification would be really interesting. I would just like to know if she is done anything in the last years to try and find the book in Oxford that would have been written by the person they were communicating with?

Tegan

Yes! That was an awesome story.

Matt and Lindsay Washburn

Oh yes! Interview Deb! This was my favorite story so far

Brian Ness

I still think a questionnaire for the patrons on their personal experience with the "Mandela effect" and possibly other experiences that they may have had that either supports or disproves that we're in a simulation would be a really cool team building exercise.

Matt Curley

**and creator ☺️ All the best to you AJ

Felene Pollard

I would love to hear her side of the story bc as I did more research it seemed there were some “poetic license” taken or perhaps those details did happen? Anything you decide to add will be fit for the channel, I trust your artist lens. I have never been so invested in a channel & cleanl

Felene Pollard

I would love to see this interview. Fascinating story!

Jim Hoyle

I can see your point, he could always break it up into shorter segments…like part one, two and three, but on Patreon only is cool also.

Drew Shourd

Hi AJ, what an opportunity! I would say have Debbie set the record straight and have the truth of the story (as usual). As Honourable Paul Hellyer would say: "Nothing can be any better than the truth, whether we like it or not." I think most of us here on your Patreon is because you get as close to the truth as possible.

Matthew Lok

Yes - longer formats will not dilute the channel and in this case, I think it only adds to the channel. I would like to know if anything has happened since the messages stopped? Have they returned to the same location with a computer and attempted to recreate it?

Frank Kumro

I think that the idea of patreon only long forms helps with a long interview form ... or ditto what Jim said

ed pluck

I def say this calls for it. How often do creators get this type of an opportunity especially on an older case. This is awesome.

Audra Neurauter

This story was my introduction to WF. You could put it on the backstage channel. Or patrons only. But it doesn't fit the format of the main chan. I. E. Yes it dilutes it :)

Jim Hoffman

That would be awesome. What if...and this is a big what if...you have either a second channel or a monthly series or something that's interviews with people like Deb, Travis Walton, Bob Lazar, etc.

Jamie Sexton

Yes that would be awesome. I’ll have to rewatch the episode again and get my questions in order. Hope hecklefish can be there too.

TC

YES! We look forward to it. My question would be if they ever had any inkling as to what kind of book he left the message in.

Sash Johnson

Yes!! I have not even read the entire post yet but thrilled to see my absolute favorite WF vid revisited! I went deep down the rabbit hole on this one for days after. It really captured my imagination.

Felene Pollard

100% YES!!! Go for it A.J….and I hope that Hecklefish can make it!!…we’ve only just begun right? Ask her, if she had it to do over again, what, if anything, would she do differently.

Drew Shourd

YES YES YES!! This would be phenomenal! Would love to hear a long form interview 👍🏼👍🏼

Rob Phillips

I’m absolutely interested in this kind of content. Would love to see past topics revisited as additional information becomes available.

El_Calamar

I think this would be awesome!

Crazy Dave

Gotta do it AJ. that story was crazy and I would LOVE to hear about it from someone involved. It in no way dilutes the channel. It adds to its incredible reach when those whom the content is about reach out to educate your subscribers. Direct results. And speaks volumes to the reach this channel now has.

Marc Signorelli

Absolutely! This is a great story, and hearing it from ‘the horses mouth’ would be great!

Shaun Murphy
