Dogmen, The Beast of Bray Road and True Stories of Werewolves

The story always starts the same way. On the side of the road, in a backyard, or in a parking lot; a large dog hovers over a dead animal, quietly eating.

As you approach, the dog looks up. Its eyes shining in the dark.

As you move closer, the dog stands up on its hind legs. It's well over 7 feet tall. It has the body of a man but the head of a dog or a wolf.

Some call them werewolves. Others call them dogmen. Whatever they are, they've been terrifying people for hundreds of years.

In the past, it's been easy to dismiss these sightings as mistakes or superstitions.

But these creatures are not so easy to dismiss anymore.

Because now -- we have pictures.

Dogmen, The Beast of Bray Road and True Stories of Werewolves

My wife (then girlfriend) and I came across something similar in Central Oklahoma in 1989. One late spring night going down an unlight 2-lane country road with no bar ditch and 6 foot banks leading up to barbed wire fenced fields on either side. We saw what looked like a really large black dog walk down the right bank and into the middle of the road in front of us. I stopped my '84 Z-28 because my T-tops were off and windows down. I turned down Def Leppard and all we could here was the rumbling of my engine. No crickets no frogs. No sounds of nature. The dog was just at the edge of my headlights on dim so I turned on my brights. The dog turned its head towards us and then stood up on two legs and began walking towards us. A tremendous sense of dread and fear poured over us and my wife (then girlfriend yelled back up). I may have screamed a little too. I threw the car into reverse and backed up as fast as I could until I got to the next intersection, got turned around and took off as fast as I could in another direction. While my wife and I disagree on exactly where this happened, it was just on the edge of the neighborhood where she lived. Even now recounting this story gives me chills. I cannot say how tall the dog was when it stood up, but it did not move like a dog walking on its hind legs and I didn't need to see anymore. We have relayed this story many times to friends and family who have acted skeptical, but I don't know how to fake chills and that sense of dread, so many have expressed they believed we are telling the truth. Thank you for sharing these stories in this episode.

Having grown up in Michigan all my life and camping and canoeing each summer with our extended family members and snowmobiling in the winters there was not a common to hear campfire stories of witches and Dogman. For us we grew up in the late 70s early 80s and our uncle always told the story of the dog man of Sigma. Sigma now is a gas station/corner store on M 66 just north of Fife Lake and south of Kalkaska, mostly woods and agriculture fields in this area.

i’ve heard this story several times and found it more credible than most. you can’t stop hoaxers once a story is out.

Regards to Lord Hecklefish Moriarty....such a magnificent sidekick

Daniel F

with those from last year.

Daniel F

Dear AJ...you have a quality channel....absolutely wonderful. I have seen most of your videos, slowly catching up with

Daniel F

I enjoyed hearing about the dogmen, errhmm dogpeople. I'm surprised that none of the witnesses shot one.

Frank Kumro

Subbed on spotify now 😁👍 thanks

Ten Toes Gaming

I'm not even sure if I had heard of the term cryptid until you mentioned it, I believe, in the After Files.

MikeD

If it easier, there's a podcast version of the show on Spotify and Apple. And I feel you about WW3. We're close!

The Why Files

They got a hold of the good stuff.

The Why Files

Right with you. Never heard of them nor cared when the topic was brought up in the live. But really enjoyed the well researched video!

Victoria

I was kind of in the same boat. I'm not in to cryptids so I tried to add some other facts and stories for people like us.

The Why Files

Yeah, some of the witnesses were really terrified. They didn't seem like they were hoaxing.

The Why Files

Yes! Shape shifter!

The Why Files

Thanks, Chris! A few people have requested the NJ Devil. I'm going to take a look at it.

The Why Files

We should have cake!

The Why Files

I am very interested in that topic!

The Why Files

HAAAAA

The Why Files

The best compliment I can give is I had minimal interest in the topic of "dogmen", yet here you are again making the story engaging and compelling, forcing me to reconsider werewolves and dogmen. : -)

MikeD

What the heck was in that weed they were smoking?

Scott Graham

I remember watching a documentary on Bray road. It was definitely interesting and I can't wait to see the why files take on it. I would watch it now but I drive a truck and listen to these videos while I'm driving to keep my mind off ww3. 😅 so tomorrow while I'm turning wheels I will absolutely enjoy this.

Ten Toes Gaming

I would have moved away immediately. Real or prank.

Eylul Deniz

Hecklefish knows this: nahualli very common in south mexico!

I grew up with the Jersey Devil. I never thought I’d be jealous of Michigan. Fantastic lore, and you presented it masterfully.

Chris Overstreet

Epic story great research AJ when or will you consider looking into adrenachrome its the scariest theory out their. Its likely only patron video as its a HOT topic for YouTube to bust butt's. I'm too scared to research but IF it's true people need to know especially when people believe it's sold on alibaba now or once. Always be safe first and foremost but if anyone I trust to research this its you AJ. Much love Sarah and Craig xx ❤️ P.s thank you again you're a true sweetheart and so appreciated 💗

SarahLeightonCraigGater

These stories are all true. My First wife was one🤔. Another great Job AJ.

Skinwalkers are also Dogmen, so you should have included them into the episode. There was a clip used in one of "Nuke's Top 5" on YouTube years ago from a black guy that managed to video a cloaked Dogman running by behind his house along the fence line. It's either dimensional or technological cloaking ability reminded me a lot of how the Predator looked in the films, but you could still see the basic werewolf-like outline to the body, even backwards bent legs. It is odd how there are so many reports of them in Michigan though.

Elak Swindell

Solid video. keep up the good work!

Although my husband is very interested in things like conspiracy theories and Cryptids and so on, he is not a liar, and a couple years ago he finally talked about a sighting he had of what he now thinks may have been a dogman more than 20 years ago (he thinks that term ‘dogman’ is silly by the way but it is what it is lol). It took place while he was driving around at night in Kirtland, Ohio. (a lot of wacko weird unexplained as well as heinous things have happened in Kirtland). I personally am not a fan of Vic Cundiff’s Dogman Encounters YouTube channel per se, however my husband was featured on Episode 377 last year if you want to hear him tell his story. https://youtu.be/ZRkMMYTSXmY

Creepy as hell it’s self… this was a great episode.

Patch

Brilliant, mate. Loved it. I don't think it's by any means impossible that in the vast wildernesses of this planet, a human-variant (Wolfman, Bigfoot, etc) could exist and survive without being properly detected. I've spent years flying all over the world, and what always strikes me, while gawping out of the windows, is how vast and largely empty it is.

William Matthews

Thanx boss, knew it had to be something besides editing.

Drew Shourd

The last 7 minutes were scared as hell! - nothing like reality to bring you down from the clouds…. I want to believe. I really do. Until then my motto is… “ prove it”! Awesome video AJ HF/team …!!! Perfect for October madness! Xx

Charly H

Love the way you present your information. You are always entertaining and hecklefish reminds of one of the friends I keep in my head, that part was a joke. I haven't seen all your stuff yet but if you haven't covered "the legend of Boggy creek" I would love to get you take, my mom grew up in east Texas back in the 30's and 40's. Also if you haven't read the book " nothing in this book is true but it's exactly how they are" I would love your take and finally there is a film "What the bleep do we know" would like your thoughts.

Karl poff

no in the wild photos please ;)

ed pluck

HAHA! I think we'll actually make these.

The Why Files

i think it is a patreon issue, i had a few glitches today re-watched sections and it happened in different places

ed pluck

Now i want to get Hecklefish boxer shorts... damn you hecklefish

ed pluck

Awesome episode, never knew this about the midwest

Hector Anguiano

Love it, you know I am a writer of short stories of the paranormal and cryptids…this is my thing man, great video! I live in S.W. Michigan, and the Michigan Dogman is real!!! The frame froze mid way btw, it was still ‘playing’ but not moving.

Drew Shourd

Perfect October fare, AJ! I was nearly finished going down the John Titor rabbit hole 😊
