Patron over/double billing?

Hey y'all. I received notes from three people that Patron over/double billed them.

I hate saying to patrons: "I'm sorry, I don't have visibility into your billing." But I don't. One patron even joked that I was double-dipping, but it's OK because he's a big fan of the channel. Yes, it was a joke, but I don't want anyone feeling they are being taken advantage of. Especially when you're being so generous and supportive of the channel.

I immediately reached out to Patreon. *10 days later*, I finally got a response that I've posted here.

They reiterate that they can't discuss your payments with me. This makes it more difficult for me to provide answers, but I understand the reason for privacy.

They have requested that anyone with a billing problem, reach out to them directly. They don't make it easy to do this so I'm putting the link here: https://support.patreon.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000465611

My apologies to everyone who has to deal with this.

If anyone needs to me be aggressive with Patreon support, just ask. I'm happy to do so.

Thanks so much for supporting The Why Files. (And for those who were double billed: double thanks! 🤦‍♂️)

Update for my charges … 2 out and they credited on their own the extra charge! So didn’t even have to contact them. ;) that’s awesome.

Reposting this as I put it under the wrong post! I wonder if it might have something to do with when the subscriber joined, meaning the time of month. I'm not sure how Patreon handles billing when customers joins late in the month, but I can see a scenario where the subscriber gets charged at the point of joining in the second half a month, and then getting charged at the top of the next month seemingly only days later. That could appear as a double charge to the customers on their credit card/PayPal/debit accounts, even though it isn't. I've subscribed to a Yankee blog (RAB Thoughts -- mentioning since you're a Yankee fan; it's highly recommended for more serious Yankee views) for two years now, and Patreon has never double charged me. Controlling the billing and customer information on the Patreon level makes a lot of sense, but it can sometimes create issues for the content creators as their subscribers will first come to them. Patreon really should respond to their content creators much quicker than 10 days.

I just became a Patron supporter for the WF?, so I've not yet noticed anything, but I now know to keep an eye on them including my other Patreon support accounts. Thanks for the heads up! On a side note, I had just been talking to a guy I work with and the suspected bath salt attack came up. Not even 2 days later the live chat and episode about the dog men/clinical lycanthropy episode came up.🤯 Yesterday I spoke to someone else about the Madella Effect and my GF had been reading an article about it sighting the condition as being about the after life. We swapped links. Talk about being on the cutting edge! Thanks for all the great - grounded content! 😁
