Tesla's Most Destructive Weapon | The Tunguska Event: Comet Impact or Death Ray Experiment?

On June 30th, 1908, a mysterious explosion shook the remote Siberian region of Tunguska. The blast flattened 80 million trees across 800 square miles. Every plant, every animal, every insect in the blast radius was vaporized. The shockwave was felt as far away as England.

It looked like a comet impact, yet, no crater was found and no debris was discovered. Scientists still can't explain what happened.

But... at that exact moment, on the other side of the world, Nikola Telsa was conducting his latest experiment: transmitting massive amounts of electricity through the atmosphere.

Tesla activated the generators in his lab and fired up Wardenclyffe Tower for one final, dramatic test: and sent *millions of volts* of electricity into the sky.

After the test was complete, Telsa looked at the readings on his equipment and said: "Oh no."

This is awesome!!! I’m sure you know this but did you hear about the construction of the New Yorker hotel and how it’s a giant Telsa tower?? Could you do a video on this??

MIke

Hell yeah

Heather Peaslee

I fucking love Nikola Tesla. Great episode

Heather Peaslee

Amazing. This is the first time every hearing this story.

Daniel L Baldwin

I loved this episode. It was the right shade of spooky and fact. Gave The Why Files a shoutout on the podcast I work for too and tagged you too.

Jen Giresi

Just finished. Another great one!

Cara Jones

Je t'adore, Hecklefish — petit poisson blond... 😍🐟

Maura

I believe AJ has said he likes to find something new to add to his stories, especially if they're already well known. People keep asking for a Bob Lazar story, but he's resisted so far because the story is so well known, but there's nothing new. That's what made this story interesting. Few knew of the Tesla connection.

MikeD

So interesting! I had never linked Tesla to the Tunguska Event. You're the best.

Jill V Earl

AJ did you ever do deep research on giants and try to separate the fake and the real?

Pierre

Wish we had a Tesla now days…. O ya his name is Elon great video you guys!

Trey M

Hi AJ, Let me start off by saying that every week, I eagerly await for your videos to drop on Patreon so that I can get early access to your videos. They are very well researched and love the various topics discussed. I did not know about this topic and it was great to know more about it. This is one of the few Youtube channels that I avidly follow, so thank you for all of your hard work ! If I may make one suggestion to improve the quality of your videos - Some of the voiceover work of some of your videos need improvement. The Actors doing the Russian voiceover doesn't sound authentic. I think some time ago you had someone do an Indian voiceover for a previous video talking about UFO's appearing in the Mahabarata - that didn't sound authentic either. As an Actor myself, I know that some productions on youtube have a very limited budget and you may not be able to afford the right talent. I am just making this suggestion to improve the quality as I would like your videos to be the best they can be. I do not wish to cause offence, just wanted to make a suggestion.

Hitesh

any story about Tesla are cool

Andrew Key

I maybe crazy, but I am not the lunatic you're looking for.

John Seychel

I'm just going to say it, I am a poor man, disabled living on ssd meager wages, get a discount on rent, let me take those food benefits away, so can't even find affordable clothes, but it is what it is. I have never ever joined patreon for anyone, I can't even afford stuff I need, But I love this channel, I believe its the #1, site on You Tube, and coming from me that is huge, but 3 bucks a month dwon't hurt me as much as missing a show. Anyhow, just wanted to say hello to everyone who feels the same about this show. To support someone is basically voting for them, ask yourself would you vote them for president?? I would vote for this, because we don't know anything about any politician except what big media want us to know. My meager $$$, I count as my voting for him for president.

John Seychel

Always informative and enlightening, thanks! So the Hecklefish and Lizzid Peeple thing; Why do some people believe this? I think you had some episode where an NSA whistleblower said Lizzid peeple were living deep underground. I'd like to know more, why people believe in them and what they're supposedly up to. Future episode please!

Nicholas Ross

All I can say is, thank goodness for your better half! I shutter to think what this channel would be like if left completely to your own devices. 😆 oh, and your friends stripper dog.

Eric Kimmel

Amazing video! Love the research. Never heard about this story before. Tesla was such a fascinating person. Keep doing great work AJ and HF!

Matthew Sidner

WOW, that was Fantastic. This was the second best episode ever presented. The best one was last week; Project Blue Beam, Just the best of the best best. I do not know how you keep topping your work but you do it. Also, I must say, I really enjoy sitting around with you and your family/crew? on " The After Show" and talk about "all of the above". I cannot speak about anyone else but for me, but it make me feel like I am a friend, and you want, more or less to hear what I have to say. Please take the following with the understanding it is given. I know you cannot respond to all comments and I know that the folks that chip in some bucks need a shout out. BUT, the folks that cannot drop a dime would also love to have a answer from you also. If you do and I missed it, I apologize. I give you my dimes through patron, so you can keep more. Thanks again for reminding the people that given through patron is better for you in the long run. You are good at your job, please keep at it. Esprit De Corps!

John Edgeworth

I have watched many videos on the Tunguska Event but no mention of Tesla. The new correlation made in the video is mind blowing for me. Thanks for adding a new element to ponder. As always the loud discussions (arguments) with Hecklefish are priceless!

David Buckles

Well done AJ, Nikola was one of my favorite people. I enjoyed his company greatly. Unfortunately not all of us live forever.

Kevin Via

I'll watch the live show, but regarding the article: I'm not going to use the WF Channel to promote my own stuff, but thanks for the thought :) I was just excited to see AJ do something that highlighted Tesla! When I'm done with the Tesla piece it will highlight the fact that a member of the Trump family was involved when the FBI took everything within hours of his death in NY. I knew the FBI took his work, but the rest of it isn't as well known as it probably should be.

Apropos directed weaponry: At the time of the sinking (implosion) of U.S.S. Thresher, a satellite noted a giant spike of energy emanating from a base on Novaya Zemlya. There was a posting on the internet, describing the development and use of Soviet scalar/orthogonal directed weapons. Apparently, two stations are needed in order to triangulate the target. This was considered to be a test of the system. It was also suggested that this system was used to target the Challenger shuttle. Who knows? Hecklefish will know!

Walt Dennig

The wig disguise combined with being fluent in French was pure gold.

Mischa Aponte

Yeah sounded Chinese, with a hint of German tossed in… 100%

Jake Plissken

Hey... This isn't a Thursday?

ProDr0xx

What a great episode! I have long been intrigued by the Tunguska Event and the potential connection to Tesla. I only wish there was more definitive evidence available. Thanks so much for doing this.

Timotheus

When you and Hecklefish start arguing, I lose it! Great stuff.

Brains Ironically

USE THE FORCE HF

joseph Cichon

Fascinating! I've never heard of the Tesla/Tunguska connection. Great episode and top notch production, thank you AJ!

Joe P

Great video! The Tesla voice was weird though, he sounded German or almost Asian lol,

Braian Cano

I'm wishing my life away waiting for the next WF? video...

Steven MG

AJ obviously got some time off and has got his old sense of humor back!!!!

Kevin Via

is it possible to have a robot tamagochi like of Hecklefish? i feel now incomplete :/

73chn05h4m4n

If you watch the live post release show, perhaps you could put the information about your platform up there so we can check out your article. I’d love to learn more about the removal of his documents. It’s always been shady.

DS_the_RN

I actually didn’t know anything about Tesla’s possible connection to the Tunguska event. Entertaining and education? This channel is worth every penny I put towards it! Thanks for another great episode, Why Files team. Applebees should really be a sponsor 😉 #fearthecrabcat

DS_the_RN

This is some tale. A death ray that could have been built in the early 20th Century? No wonder we should learn to respect the power of the technology we have access to today!

David Alan Gay

Loved this episode. It really spoke to me especially the wonder of modern devices, I have only recently been deeply thinking about it, smartphones especially. Another wonderful episode. Thank you guys! Well done. Myfbwy 🖖

Jackson

I wonder what today would look like if J.P. Morgan had been a lot more patient… Great show!!! (The Lizzid people are watching)

Ben Dubaye(dewbay)

This is exactly why I joined Patreon to support the Why Files. Every week the content seems to be getting better and better. This by far my new favorite .

Michael Goad

Loved this video!! Very well done as always :) I hope Hecklefish isn't in too much trouble with the authorities. Il parle très bien français, pour un poisson! :) I'm impressed!

Plinkster

Another FANTASTIC episode AJ, family, and of course "Lord Hecklefish"! I just received my beautiful Hecklefish mug, but I have to say it: Dear 'ol Hecklefish looks a little "pudgier" in recent episodes than on the mug....maybe a little less celebrating at Applebee's after another record audience at the live Patreon-only events might be in order!🥳 I have to say that I'm a big Nikola Tesla fan - the man was most definitely the modern world's most influential inventor, and quite possibly the most intelligent person that has ever lived, bar none. I would absolutely love to visit the "Nikola Tesla Museum" in Belgrade, Serbia, where they actually now have all of the trunks that were confiscated by the US government from Mr. Tesla's hotel room in New York. The museum is supposed to be absolutely beautiful as it is housed in one of the most stately buildings in that part of Belgrade. If you go, don't leave without purchasing a copy of the very comprehensive books about Tesla written by the museum's director - I have a copy and it is probably the best book on Tesla period....it's a good sized book, tons of photos and diagrams that you just won't find anywhere else, and it's an excellent reference as well. Highly recommended. Anyway, great episode to all the creators of the show! Cheers!

Warren Clark

TESLA!!! One of my very favorite humans and topics. We have so much to be grateful to him for inventing, and for broadening our awareness of what's possible. Another stellar production as always, AJ, LHF, and WF Team, thank you! Non sequitur: I'm working on an article about the removal of Tesla's papers and materials when he died (I imagine YT might throttle down any presentations that went into the who of those events and the current politicians associated by familial ties). I expect my own platform to throttle down the view access when I release my article, but I'm still going to anyway. Maybe they'll surprise me, fingers crossed. It's good to speak the facts even when you get slapped down for it. That never stopped me before; don't see a point in starting now.

B. Roxy Rogers

AJ, family, and of course "Lord Hecklefish": wow, what a fantastic episode! Being an ardent fan of all things Tesla you definitely outdid yourself with this one.....although I'm familiar with all of the separate events you speak of here I've never heard ANYONE connect all the dots as you so brilliantly have! Outstanding investigative journalism on your part, or maybe I just haven't read as much about Tesla as you have...irregardless, your attention to detail and the professionalism

Warren Clark

George Westinghouse made several purchases of Telsa patents prior to the1929 deal for the five patents mentioned held to this day under US secrecy protections. Telsa didn't need Westinghouse $1 million Cash offer until the 1929 stock market had crashed two weeks later once refusing to give them up. It wasn't until 1943 when the FBI and the Office of Alien Property seized Telsa papers for security concerns after his death January 7 1943 can connection be made between the five Westinghouse brought and where the US Government moves to use Eminent Domain for national security claims things get lost or better stated hidden. Westinghouse sold the five 1929 patents to Lockheed after the War. Telsa skills as a US patent clerk before meeting Edison and Westinghouse understood how to create an 'envolving invention cause' to prevent disclose after the 50 year protection expired. The US patent registration list doesn't include Telsa five patents sold to Westinghouse except Telsa own remarks of selling them to Westinghouse for $1 million dollars in early November 1929. I could be more specific but that only welcomes the current FBI on going involvement in the matter of anyone seeking the five 1929 Parents.

L Lee Hinds

Great delivery about this interesting story. I do appreciate the picture of Art Bell you have on your right. He started all this for me. You are doing a great job carrying the torch.

Kazren

I loved this one, another top notch production from the why files! I've been reading a book about Tesla and his research, published originally in 1893 and it's clear that his understanding of electricity and magnets were almost superhuman. It's like he was born specifically to uncover the secrets of electricity and electromagnets. I have no trouble seeing how this could actually have been the truth to the story, he was so confident that he was arrogant. If only he was better at being an "engineer" and not only an inventor, maybe jp Morgan would have continued funding him and we would be light-years ahead of our current model of physics. If only....

Nate Casler

After finally getting around to logging into my Patreon account (I've been supporting Rifftrax for over 2 years and kept forgetting to get in here and change my card...), I added my support for TWF as well. No kuddos necessary, but it was certainly fun to see my name on the list of supporters 4 seconds from the end... LOL :D

Jeremy Shorter

That had to be the funniest episode ever. I loved it

Carmelo Cortes

Awesome episode! This one is right up there with the Solar Flares episode in inducing my anxiety lol. Anything to do with something from space turning us completely upside down as a civilization or worse in the blink of an eye. But yet I still I love watching videos on all of it!

Mike Banks

His Russian accent from a couple weeks back was stronger than his French one!

MikeD

Superb. Hadn't heard of this possible connection. Congrats on a new advertiser. It would have been great if Hecklefish's train was actually cutting through Scotland as he was going to visit his plot of land from a former advertiser who shall not be named.

MikeD

Has that ever been proven that they hold the actual patents? I always heard rumors of that never knew if it was true.

Noah Laughton

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🎬

Moe

Great episode!! I love anything and everything that has to do with Tesla <3

Christia Brown

great video, as usual. I am thankful AJ was shown mercy when in Lord HF's death grip, this show wouldn't be the same without him

B.C. Schoening

Poor hecklefish at the end was supposed to be in france or something, but the french speaking people in the background had a very thick english accent. (when they said they'll smash the door (nous allons défoncer la porte)) They said that with a very relaxed easy going tone - That was funny :) Thanks for another great video AJ!

Ivito

Great episode.

Tom One

Outstanding!! Thank you!

Seth Reed

AJ, what material is that shirt made of, it looks soft and comfy

Ben T

Whoa I’ve heard of both of these things but had no idea of their connection. Thank you AJ and Team!!

Christine Atanasio

Yes , I'm sure the powers that be that are constantly at war with each other will use every and all future powers wisely . LOL

Randoir

Id happily watch a second channel where you and Heckle only act out Star Wars senes.

Robert Boag

Great job and, like many have commented, I hadn't heard of this possible link! Glad you found a new sponsor! What a fun way to introduce it with Hecklefish. :)

Mister Larson

Outstanding Content ! Great Commercial ..:) Well done ...

Jeff Pierce

Great episode! We laughed a ton at hecklefish this week

Kevin April

Great job!

Trever James E.

Another great observation. One of the five patents still under the a secrecy order today is Telsa death ray. Held by Northrup and Lockheed Martin

L Lee Hinds

Thank you for a great, early episode AJ & Hecklefish!

Mellie

If I could have a beer with Tesla... great episode!!

Sam Patel

Fantastic show!!

Ryan Gallant

Did AJ start doing cocaine or something? How did he get this out 2 days early??! Keep going AJ!

Chase Schleich

Who're your voice actors? I enjoyed their Russian accents. :)

Jim Hoffman

Did you ever see the Vincent van Gogh episode of Dr Who? Would love to be able to show Tesla how much of an impact his inventions have had on modern times.

SGW4K

Early!?! Awesome! Also, never heard of the Tesla-Tunguska link. Nice
