CIA Declassified: What Backwards Secrets are you hiding in your Reverse Speech?

In 1983, David Oates dropped his walkman into the toilet.

If you're under 40 years old, a walkman was a portable cassette player.

If you're under 30, a cassette was how we listened to music in the stone age.

Anyway, after being dropped, David's tape player would only play tapes in reverse.

At first, he found this entertaining. There were lots of songs that contained hidden messages that you could only hear if you played them backward.

But *those* messages were placed there intentionally.

Soon, David discovered messages hidden in human speech that were NOT intentional. Messages that were put there by the speaker's subconscious.

Turns out, we all do this. In fact, when we lie, our subconscious actually encodes the *truth*, backward, inside the lies that we tell.

This is *really* interesting. Because that means, the truth about every conspiracy is right in front of your nose.

Interesting... And a bit disturbing.

This was the episode that pulled me in and made me create a patreon, Simone Simone lol! I couldn’t believe it. Thanks for all your great work!

G. I. Gurdjieff

Would love an episode on Paul McCartney's "death". You brought up things I had never heard before!

Erica Entwistle

This was an incredible episode and we’ve suggested that our reporters start listening to the interviews they conduct a bit more critically er… backwards. Brilliant programming….

I’m a student of Reverse Speech and am studying with David Oates. Here’s a reversal of HECKLEFISH that I made this morning, it’s an unlisted link so only people in here can access it at the moment: Hecklefish from "The Why Files" https://youtu.be/Z9kxXmhPET0

Alex NorCal

I thought it was very interesting, especially the parts about JFK. I would love to see an entire episode on Paul's death as well

Austin Richards

I always love AJ and this is 100% my favorite channel but the backwards talking stuff was just OK for me.

Vincent Anzelone

Not sure and even the AI interpretation of backwards is not convincing. Not one of the better episodes and not clearly proven...

Ed Forrest

Ya...AJ and the crew missed the mark on this one...

Ed Forrest

Voting "yes" for the "Paul is Dead" episode.

Mister Larson

Really not sure about this one

Andrew Key

This was another great episode. I remember playing the Beatles records backwards on my record player. I have now downloaded an app that plays audio backwards called reverse play. I will be having fun playing with it today.

Myra Kness

This has blown my mind!

Patch

I’d never heard of this theory, it’s pretty silly as you always just hear whatever is printed on the screen. That said though, you as always knocked it out of the park and it was an awesome vid

Adrian Kemp

Most of the time I did not look and only till I read did I hear it. Except Clinton I herd something ending in kill. Bob Lazar is the only one that was loud and clear. Clearly like forward play.

Carlos Lamas

Great video as always, but... I know the main idea about the video is the political part, but as a music and Beatles fan, I wanted to correct the record at the beginning. Paul wasn't the one driving the car that crashed, it was Tara Browne. John actually said "Cranberry sauce" not "I burried Paul". John did what he wanted and instead of counting in A Day in the Life going, one.. two... three... four... one... two... three... four... he said, "Sugar plum fairy... sugar plum fairy". The bass on the front of Sgt. Pepper supposedly spelled Paul with four long flower stems for bass strings. Also, as mentioned, before Paul didn't wreck his car, but he did however cut his lip and chipped a tooth when he crashed a moped, which is supposedly why he grew his mustache around the Pepper era. There are actually black and white photos of him not long after the incident on the web. I would LOVE to see a Why Files video on the Beatles in any form - Paul's death conspiracy theories, back masking, George Martin as the true fifth Beatle (would the Beatles have been able to achieve what they did if Sir Martin had been there as he was, encoraging, honing, tutoring them in how to utilize the studio and indulging them to greater heights? There is also a short but facinating YouTube video of the supposed "The Real Paul McCartney with Beatles tourists" that can easily be found. In the same vein as the Paul is dead theory, A Day in the Life wasn't about Paul or Kennedy having his mind blown out in a car - the Kenedy angle is something relatively new to me and seems to be fairly obscure, but out there. Lastly... Just think about Hecklefish's options to cover a great Beatle's song or songs alone... Oh myyyyyy! Glass Onion style? Paul might have been the walrus, but, "I am the Hecklefish" might make a great shirt or mug 😁

He has learned the ancient art of story telling. Bait and hook, and has a fishy partner to boot,.

CONTINUED: Kennedy fell victim to spatial disorientation, after years of piloting back and forth for many many years. Even if he was drunk, he would've made it home.

This is another great story, even though I had knowledge of the sub conscience reverse thing. The entirety of Paul's death in backward speech in both middle school and high school, we all had opinions. My friend and I discovered that Paul wasn't replaceable, that was a subject no one thought of that we knew of. Like Prince, who did pass away, Paul's father was a musician also, his father Jim McCartney, also a multi instrument player too. So like Prince Paul had the impression of music and his father's guidance all his childhood, they even had a piano. OK in high school with the science teacher, my forum discussed the idea of just finding someone who had the same expressions, and voice and intelligence of music theory. We decided that in order to find a Paul Replacement, it would have to be a clone. The existing Paul, has memories of everything Paul did since he was a child. The possibility of Paul being replaced was just impossible. Could it all have just been camera play? NO, the replacement Paul would have had to fulfill each and every concert, media events and so on. So if Paul died in a secret room or what ever the crazy idea was, it wasn't worth hiding his death anyway. When John Lennon was killed, just about the entire globe went into morning over it. Many of us just couldn't fathom he was actually dead. Why wasn't John's death hidden, and he replaced? George died, no hiding his death, bla bla bla. So was the hidden messages on Beetles albums secret message placed purposely for the purpose for pumping up record sales, could be, but the news back then that they were even more famous then Jesus ever was, shook the christian world. A band so famous, they beat god's fame, LOL. That was a special time to be alive, and the same happened with Micheal Jackson years later. Why assassinate JFK, why not replace him too? JFK's son searched for answers for year's also, and was positive the shooter was George Bush senior. They say that his plane still had plenty of fuel in it. I believe his death was blamed on a broken panel, but he was an ace pilot, and flew back and forth from Manhattan to Martha's Vineyard, regularly, so he didn't need his panel, he knew just by memory alone.

Great episode

brant wehr

Imma upgrade my Patreon tomorrow!!! AJ you and crew just keep getting better and better with each episode and all your hard work should earn an award.

Noah Laughton

Great show, I love the way you reel the story out.

Kazren

Such a fantastic episode! Thank you

Charles Caldwell

Another reason to say what you mean and mean what you say.

William Kennison

Great video, loved it! I remember looking at this topic years ago, and the conclusion I was brought to was the human mouth is limited to a relatively small number of sounds it's technically capable of making. Plus, the human brain is highly tuned to pattern finding, glueing the two together and voila, the audio equivalent of faces in cloud formations?

William Matthews

Great topic as always. Like that this one wasn't totally debunked. I was pretty creeped out the same time HF was.

Brenda Rush

A very fun episode, cheers! !etinU stsihcranA :-)

thormusique

So these things we're hearing, are of the recordings being played backwards?

Dave Scott

Yes please on the Paul is dead. I remember that hysteria perfectly.

Jessica Waters

This is the ONLY channel I’ve ever made it a point to become a Patreon member of. I’m one crabby ass old bastard now (50) and everything pisses me off, except for the Why Files…just fkn fantastic man.

John Hobart

I played this episode backwords, and Hecklefish was calling you a turd.

Thomas Ford Hardin

Makes ass backwards sound good. Lol

Mark william lane

Let us not forget the 'The Infinite Monkey Theorem' which is a proposition that an unlimited number of monkeys, given typewriters and sufficient time, will eventually produce a particular text, such as Hamlet or even the complete works of Shakespeare. One thing that nags at me is the question of exactly how much taped conversation is being left on the cutting room floor? It seems as though these reverse snippets are heavily cherry picked, and possibly edited to achieve the result required. Not much of what was disclosed seems very scientific to my layman's ears. (Most of the first sentence was cut and pasted from a Google search, to be clear. Probably a direct quote from a scientist,)

Lawrence Berge

Seriously though, you should make a few copies of every research that you do and disperse them just to be on the safe side; 🛅.

Ben Dubaye(dewbay)

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 this episode was amazing sheesh fire 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Dorian Terry

That was probably the best one yet. Loved every minute of it. And cheers to anarchy.

Seth Forrestier

I have known 78rpm records, 33 1/3 rpm records and 45 rpm; then, 8 track cassette, 4 track cassette(Walkman), digital tape cassettes and I’m still young at heart!!!

Ben Dubaye(dewbay)

I loved this episode - entertaining, as always but...

What A Cool Episode !!! Great Job as always !

Jeff Pierce

Awesome show as always you guys rock lizard people forever

robert geoffroy

Thanks for making me feel old with the Walkman and cassette comments 😂 Personally I don't believe in a lot of the reverse speech, I think it is just people finding something like seeing images in clouds. But looking forward to watching the video and seeing your take on it.

Dalton Bilsky

My Teachers always said “I was a little backwards” Does this sadly prove them right?? GR8 Show 🙏🏻

Chip Snyder (chiphappened)

Im psyched for this one!!

Kim Feeney

Thank You AJ!!

Chip Snyder (chiphappened)

i'm 35 and never used a walkman, but there was always one in the house when i was very young. sorry, i know this comment is pretty pedantic and annoying. i hesitate to send it. i look forward to watching this episode on the big living room tv with my dad when it airs. thanks for everything you do.

kelsey

38 here, and I owned many walkmans.. upon reflection, probably too many. EDIT: Yes, please. An ep on dead paul would be most excellent
