Operation Mincemeat: The Shadow Catalyst for CIA's Dark Age

On April 30, 1943, in the middle of World War II, a body washed up on the shore of Huelva, Spain. The deceased man was wearing a British military uniform. There was a briefcase strapped to his body containing British and American military secrets.

The man was Major William Martin, a British Royal Marine who was the single victim of a fatal plane crash at sea.

He had just returned from temporary leave in London, where he had gone to the theater and purchased an engagement ring for his fiancee, Pam.

But there was something very strange about Major William Martin.

He didn’t exist.

Bond was also based off of Roald Dahl. Yes, the author of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. His story is very interesting too.

Kendon Brawner

For real. Just bounce out, nobody cares

Nate

If you are so 'upset' why are you here?! No offense, but damn this is cringe to read. Legitimately sound like my 5 year old niece still thinking the world revolves around you 😂. It is completely acceptable for a channel to have sponsors. That is what improves the quality and reach of the channel. The sponsors have not compromised the videos at all. In fact, I think AJ goes above and beyond ensuring the sponsors are relevant. Instead of complaining, create your own channel and run it how you want. Until then; be safe, be kind and know you are appreciated (even with your cringe comments)

Nate

I love when people feel the need to advertise they are leaving, instead of just…. Leaving!

Joe Ragu

Membership is meant for those who choose to support without solely self-seeking intent, hence the word “support,” not slur or skewer a very hard working man and team. If that’s your singular purpose, by all means cancel TJ. This is a great channel and community, but you certainly have the freedom to cancel as not every video will be your cup of tea, but throwing boiling water via your texted words expecting communication back from the creator isn’t constructive or a demonstration of your support.

Axel August

I get the feeling this channel is going more and more towards what I don't like. I couldn't have cared less about this video. Since it was only done, according to the channel, to make money for the sponsor, I probably won't be a member much longer. Really no reason to support a channel that does videos based on what the sponsor wants instead of the audience. Also, haven't seen the channel comment on anything that's posted by the members here or on YouTube. I understand YT, but no reason to ignore members who pay here.

Tom Jones

@tomjones it’s not unusual to be loved by anyone…

Mike Witkowski

Also, the movie Operation Mincemeat from 2021 is well done to those that want to watch a drama about it.

Tom Jones

I understand the need for sponsors, but not thrilled you change your format to get them. This video isn't something I'd normally be interested in. As a patreon member, I'm not happy about the decision. I support based on the quality of this channel. But when you start to change who you are because you're chasing money, it damages the channel. Food for thought.

Tom Jones

I hope to Fk that Andrew’nCrew have some 24/7/365 armed security with some of the topics that have come out. After watching Dr. Greer’s presentation last weekend, and the shadow military and government that exists….we have to protect the world’s assets for the citizens, one of them being the Why Files.

John Hobart

Awesome episode, I got to cut back on smoking I keep forgetting about this app lol.

kayden plummer

He didn’t debunk it because it’s all true. The cia did *all* of that, all the the foreign governments that we’ve overthrown for one reason or another, they killed Kennedy, mk ultra… the unibomber was a mk victim, everything he mentioned in this video AND WAY MORE is true.

Becky Ward

This was great and I really liked your segue into talk about current Disclosure and Whistle-blowers AJ

Julia Fox

Didn’t someone make a movie on this operation? I’m Almost positive?

Joe Ragu

Well done, AJ. Remember to get some rest. We'll all be here for ya on the other side of well-deserved vacations etc.! (No, that doesn't mean you look tired or anything, don't worry.)

Michael Monroe

Really interesting topic. You crushed it as always!

Brian Mcandrew

So scary

Tonya Downing

AJ- Another homerun! Dude! lol!

Duce

Really interesting.. enjoyed this one.

My father was in 5th SFG during Vietnam and apart of the CIA’s Phoenix Program. He didn’t talk about it much but he did talk about being on what he called a “wet team”. I immediately said, did you work in water? He said. The called it wet because it got bloody. 🫣

Cory DeGarmo

Anyone else officially scared for AJ & heckle after seeing this episode??😬 Nothing I didn’t already know about the cia, but they don’t like people airing their dirty laundry like this.

Becky Ward

Great point! You are probably right…👻

Wendaruth

Great episode. Tying together Operation Mincemeat and how it links to the CIA was very informative. Thanks

BuzDarkken

Another one I'd not heard of. Great Job AJ and Team!!!!

Kevin Via

I've heard of Operation Mincemeat, but this is definitely next level!! Great job, WF? Team😎

Bobbie Zarate

My first introduction to TWF was "The Dog Suicide Bridge" about a year back, although a year after it premiered. It's the blend of stories, including paranormal, UFOs, religion, science and history that makes TWF's compelling. That's why I particularly enjoyed this week's story as it's a reminder of the diverse story topics AJ and team can mine.

MikeD

lol Ivor was my dad's name. I was almost named "Ivor Jr." Thank God my mom said no way in hell. :)

Jim Hoffman

love all your videos

Mary Jo Doering

Hooked to The Why Files like a crackhead! If I could, I’d be knocking on your door at 3am asking for another episode! Awesome work!

Todd Evans

If the CIA gets him there won't be any bail, he'll just vanish into the ether.

Nikki G_0

Awesome!!

NorthwoodsJen

Brilliantly covered story! I'm so glad you've had the temerity to be able to tie it to subsequent history like that. Unfortunately, it's all so, so true, and something we should all heed. Cheers!

thormusique

So informative! really enjoyed

Andy Mavridis

Darlene Liberty

Great episode as always. I'd love to see an episode covering Project Fugo or the Japanese Balloon Bomb program during WW2.

Scott Crawford

I'll be waiting forever.. can't post to Australia 🤣

SGW4K

True, this was a breath of fresh air, not that I don't like the paranormal and alien stuff.

SGW4K

War, espionage, James Bond, corpse with fake identity... 😱this had it all! Very well put together and nothing really debunkable.. is that a word? 🤣 Thanks team, awesome as always 👍👍👍

SGW4K

Brilliant content as always 👏🏼👏🏼. The CIA is for sure responsible for a slue of evil deeds. Many even on its own citizens.

James Winn

Awesome episode! Every week just gets better! Much love crew.

Sibyle

Really enjoyed learning about this interesting piece of history. Personal I would love to see more history-focused episodes. I’m sure there’s plenty of “why”s hidden out there.😁

Bryan Gordley

Very cool episode, but like the moves did this episode have to be approved by the CIA? lol dangerous ground to cover but needed to be said. We need more Hecklefish sounds on Discord!! “Everyone needs a corpse guy” had me dying lol

William Rigby

DAMN! You knocked this one out of the park! Great history and the way you made that story relevant to today was flawless. You should be proud of this one.

Jason Spencer

Loved it as always!

W

I'm still waiting for the Hecklefish stuffed toy...

Keri Holmes Rojas

my buddy bought the crab cat shirt. I can't let him outdo me.

Whiskey Tango-Foxtrot

Allways loved the man who never was.

Deirdre a greene

Good episode AJ! I was hoping you'd end on the re-introduction of the Smith-Mundt Act in 2012, but I realize it may have been a bit too dark to end on. Everyone should take some time to be familiar with it (and the original from the '40s), it just so happens to coincide with the beginning of the madness of this decade. https://www.congress.gov/bill/112th-congress/house-bill/5736 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith%E2%80%93Mundt_Act

MyCookie

Nice dovetailing with current National Press Club 2.0 revelations.

Julia Fox

Amazing detailed story telling- you’ve aced it Aj and Hecklefish!

Julia Fox

Excellent... I never knew this. Thank you.

Melissa Taylor

Great episode! I love that Ian Fleming was in this covert op and that you included him in the story. I used to tick people off by telling them the Bond character and franchise were nothing like the Author intended, which was true until Daniel Craig played Bond. Craig's Bond was the character Fleming wrote, or as close as anyone has come to it, IMO, but I had no idea that character was a composite of people Fleming knew during the war. At the end of AJ's narration, given recent events, when you mention U.S. population demanding more accountability from the CIA, my SF/F author brain kicked my news brain to the curb, and I immediately wondered what their retrieval program looks like. gah. Thanks AJ, HF, and WF Team for another great episode!

B. Roxy Rogers

Great story... well presented, Thanks!

Carl E Houston

Good too have a corpes

Tommy Williams

Nice work. Read about this story before. Very interesting.

Murph

Woo, fear the CIA...uh..crabcat!!

Cleave Bourbon

Gen Xer here. I’m with you. I love the WWII and Catholic stories. I was raised catholic and now I’m atheist. This was a great break from all the alien/monster stuff. Im right in your sweet spot, keep ‘em coming

Jason Wagner

As always, fantastic episode! Keep on exposing truths. We will raise bail money 😂😂😂

Wendaruth

Another great episode! I read a book a few years back called " the man who never was" and last year saw "Operation Mincemeat" which was excellent. They had a part in the movie about the Germans finding out about the operation but this "secret German organization was trying to over through Hitler and help convince Hitler that the Greece information was true. Anyway, I will bring it up in the after-show for discussion! Thanks Again for Great Work!

John Edgeworth

You can watch Operation Mincemeat on Netflix. The movie is a good one and puts you in the middle of the story.

Michael Young

Great story! Another fine effort AJ & Co.! Keep 'em comin'!

Jeff Okeson

Oh boy, you're walking a thin line with this one. You might want to get a food tester. 'F'- in' fisherman almost made me do a spit take!

Kevin Heidler

Oh, another idea: Technology Suppression. Are there actors, groups, or powerful elites who are actively working to suppress the development of technology? It has long been alleged that the development of green technology and electric vehicles were actively suppressed and/or bought out and buried by the fossil fuel industry. However, is this true also in other technological sectors? If we examine the technological growth and development from the 1940s to the early 1970s - we went from flying propeller airplanes to landing on the moon in less than 30 years. It strikes many people odd that all technological development has seemingly halted since the late 1980s except for in the IT industry. Is this on purpose, and if so, who and why would this be?

Unkown Novelist

Amazing video! Thanks a bunch! How about a 2 or 3 part series of secret societies and their controversies and conspiracies surrounding them? We often hear how Illuminati, Freemasons, Bilderberg Group, and Bohemian Grove ties in with dubios agendas such as "The New World Order", and manipulates NGOs such as The World Economic Forum, etc.

Unkown Novelist

Did you get Little Platoon's vocal assistance with this episode? That dialog at 4:20 sounded just like him.

Elak Swindell

Well I sure hope AJ has some good security after this one. This was awesome as usual

John Hobart

Super interesting episode...loved it. Gives us more.

Omar

I could swear you did portions of this before, but the tag for the CIA shaping up is a nice touch. I never mind a revisit to a classic piece by The Why Files. 😁 Great stuff, as always, Mr. Hecklefish. Your human seems like a pretty good bloke, too… 😅

Jeremy Shorter

Thanks for being brave enough to tell the truth about the CIS

Thomas Ford Hardin

Your talent in producing these stories is amazing. Well done indeed.

Rick Glisson

It's good to have a Corpse Guy!

Lachesis Ember

I love history, especially WWII history and have always loved this story… for anyone interested there’s a pretty good movie about it called… well… Operation Mincemeat. Thank you as always, another awesome story and a little spot of peace & self care for my day! 💙

Sandra Childress

Another stunning piece. Love your channel so much! Intelligent, stimulting and valuable work. Going to share this when you publish on Friday :)

Paula Unger

Another great episode!! Good work to the whole team!!

Nicholas A Preator

AJ, another great episode. I hadn't heard of Operation Mincemeat before. Very interesting how it led to the modern day CIA, but AY Chihuahua, you're brave pulling off their mask like this. Stay frosty my friend!

Nikki G_0

Another excellent episode! A big thank you to everyone for all the hard work you do. 🦀😸

Helle

Fantastic job! Though I had heard about this operation before it was interesting to hear the details involved - Thanks

Peter Anniko

I really liked this episode! That being said, if any Why Files episode is likely to be demonetized this is it. Hopefully AJ doesn't get CIA black bagged and disappeared....and I hope I'm joking 😂

Daniel Grisham

Ayyeeee that was dope!

VolCanixWorx Sadie

Awesome

Ed Keighron

How is the talking plushy coming along? Because, "I tried to make air quotes but my fins wouldn't bend", needs to be on it!

Paula Unger

Hey. I got my conspiracy theory shirt last week. It's great!!

Paul Vest

F*@k those fishermen. 🤣

Scott Langevin

Whole video runs 28:21, but the 2 minutes are Patreon credits. So if it's cutting off at 28:00, you're not missing anything. (Except maybe seeing your picture scroll by)

The Why Files

Yep. Patreon request.

The Why Files

Ran 28:21 for me.

MikeD

Yes!!!! ;) love being a Patron! Thanks AJ and team! You’re awesome. :)

Drew Lane

Does it stop at 28 minutes for anyone else?

Paul Vest

This is a excellent video, best deception ever .. great job!

Michael Denton

Just started watching now. Looks like a good one. Also, another one I hadn’t heard about previously. Those are often the best.

MikeD

Is this, this weeks "why files" episode?

Sway Dominguez

Love the content AJ, you are brilliant!

Robert Harry

Oh HELL YES . I freakin love you guys.
