Unsolved UFO Mystery: Ariel School Incident
Added 2023-07-26 19:48:37 +0000 UTCSeptember 14th, 1994 was a quiet night in Zimbabwe. Then suddenly, boom! An explosion startled people all over the country. Windows rattled. Doors shook.
Shocked and confused, people sheepishly stepped outside to see what happened. Everything looked fine. They went back inside.
But one woman wasn't satisfied. Cynthia Hind drove around the capital city of Harare, searching for the source of the sound but, nothing seemed unusual.
But back at home, Cynthia's phone rang relentlessly. She was a UFO investigator and witness reports were coming in one after another. The news claimed the sound was a sonic boom caused by a meteor shower. But Cynthia wasn't so sure.
Eyewitnesses near Lake Kariba described bizarre lights in the sky earlier that week. Lights in a row that moved erratically: fast then slow. First north to south. Then east to southwest. Meteors don't do that.
Cynthia suspected there was much more to the story. And two days later, she'd find out that she was right.

No primary adult witnesses, no physical evidence, power of suggestion is strong in younglings, and I've seen mass hysteria tear through a group like that. Waaay more likely than brilliant- but- incompetent space jockeys pulling over to the side to change a tire.

Although I will always give kudos to the team for their debunking efforts; as a trained psychologist and school administrator? It would be virtually Impossible to obtain student reports with so many commonalities from 60+ students. Trust me. It’s difficult to investigate a minor disciplinary issue witnessed by 5 students during supervised recess with the general level of consistency reported from the students attending the Ariel School. I feel it’s also important to note that the minds of children are not as tainted by social media exposure or societal doctrinarian as adults. The minor inconsistencies in the eyewitness accounts of 60+ students does not strike me as surprising. There is an abundance of research-based evidence showing that eyewitness accounts of traumatic events are highly subjective and unreliable. Thank you for covering the story. I recall watching a documentary on this incident years ago, and considering it believable (despite being a sceptic of much). As I reflect on this video, I can not help but wonder if (assuming there is alien life) there is intention in connecting with children because they are untainted & and will serve as the next generation of humanity.

Maybe it was part of another episode, but even then I feel like it was fairly in depth with interviews of the kids all grown up and a head master who admitted to seeing the UFO but for some reason lying about it at the time to the authorities. I'm only 16 minutes in now so if this stuff is later in the episode I'm going to start freaking out.

If i recall he was flying across from Botswana at the time. He was also interviewed for one of the Arial Phenomena documentaries but never made the final cut.

It's very interesting how all these people trying to get to the truth of the matter keep having "accidents" though. The truth is out there, but will we ever be privy to it? From what I originally read about it decades ago I believed it, then a the UFO hucksters got involved and it made me question the original account. It would be more surprising if the stories and drawings were consistent, especially considering the trauma of the event and how the children likely shaped each others stories over time. This is normal. Something absolutely happened at the Zimbabwe school, and the children, now adults, have remained consistent on that point all these years on. To play the slight devil's advocate. I do wonder if the children were predisposed to seeing a UFO based on what was being reported in the media in the days leading up to the encounter, which likely led to interesting discussions at home over the dinner table. A university did issue a report ruling out that this was a case of mass hysteria as some had tried suggesting. And then there's the infamous video game coder and grifter Mick West, who suggested the kids saw a VW van with hippies. He likely wasn't serious, but you never know with West and his devoted followers of "westies." Yes, grifters exist on both sides of the equation in UFOlogy. Something happened in the schoolyard in Zimbabwe. Something happened in the schoolyard in Westall. Something happened in the schoolyard in Miami. Will we ever find out for sure? I'd bet against it.
