he Cryptid Files Vol 1: Bigfoot, Nessie, and Chupacabra

Cryptids have captured our curiosity for ages. Tales of mysterious and elusive creatures roaming the wilderness spark our imagination.

In this first installment of... quite a few, we explore three famous cryptids that have left big footprints on popular culture (ahem).

Bigfoot sightings go back centuries. We investigate theories on Gigantopithecus, hear (and see) compelling accounts from seemingly credible witnesses. And, of course, we'll discuss the famous Patterson-Gimlin Film.

The Loch Ness Monster. One of my personal favorites. There are photographs, film and video. Could Nessie be the last surviving dinosaur?

The Chupacabra. Starting in 1995, this vampiric predator terrorized Puerto Rico, massacring livestock. Theories on alien experiments and genetic mutations attempt to explain its sudden appearance.

I would say that the Jurassic period is the fictional part of the story. Also, Paleontology wasn't invented in the 1800's. The Catholic Church accidentally invented the scientific method in about 300AD when they ordered one of their sects to start studying the giant bones that commoners were assuming were giants and saints, and classifying them. I don't like seeing the Goat Sucker labelled as a Chupacabra. The actual historic legends of the Chupacabra are of the creature that resembles nothing less than a raccoon with mange. I would note that the Goat Sucker legends would be largely explainable by a large bat. Only that one incident described the creature as something so alien. Most of the descriptions could be a large bat, or bats. That is indeed entirely possible in the South American Jungle. Even probable.

James Long

Good collection of bogie monsters. I keep an open mind because I’ve experienced some strange things I can’t explain. Great story presentation.

David Leatherman

The reason they have so much trouble finding Loch Ness monster is it's because it's a ghost of a dinosaur 🦕.

Tommy Barnes

Ok so true story. I can’t recall the date but me and a childhood friend and some of her family were camping here in southeast texas. We had a bonfire going and whatnot. I distinctly remember us walking up a road with our friends and i seen piercing red eyes in the brush on the side of the road at my eye level. They weren’t round shape but more of a sharp slant to them. I took off running and everyone followed suit. My friend still remembers that night too. It was quite scary for a 10 yr old. This has been burned in my brain ever since. For years I always referred to seeing a chupacabra but after seeing the Mothman video, I’m not so sure.

C.Hopper5

Yes, I grew up here in the Michigan camping and living on quite a few "lochs".

John Seychel

I always thought big foot was real. And still do

Allen Moody

Bigfoot....world record holder for Hide & Seek.....

Craig Blevins

Great episode AJ and Hecklefish!

JE Morse

I like the cryptid stuff for fun, but the sciencey content is more compelling for me. I appreciate (what I think is) your appropriate level of debunkery and the fact that you hold that bit to the end. Well done IMO.

Ken

I live in WA state. I never believed in crytids since I’m a Christian.. but few years ago I was driving home from the base of Mt Rainier and came across this large thing in the road. I got out and asked if they needed help. It turned around and it was like a 7ft tall owl. It then flew away. The most insane thing I saw. And there are ton of reporting of things like that around there.

Jesus Martin

AJ, your research missed an explosive Loch Ness development. He is suspected to be Jack the Ripper. I saw it on an episode of “Bullshit or Not?” https://youtu.be/O2yVZCVLK3E?si=V-CaCoKBYkHw6MrZ

Matthew

you mean Loch Inchmahome, it was named Lake of Menteith in the early 1800 due to the English and some survey they done there are documents, though sporadic showing it named as a loch :D

Shaun Baltes

Their is one Lake in Scotland, Lake of Menteith..

Jong

Lake in Scotland is called a Loch.

Jong

I loved unique perspectives on these. I also learned a lot about the chupacabra. I didn't know much about it really.

Dan Magaro

Love your work been watching for years now Thank you for the detail and quality. I'm surprised travel or discovery or history channel hasn't asked you to sign a deal and make your own show on their networks

Steven Chell

I would love to see a video about the "backrooms" which is a hit among conspiracy theorists who actually believe in it

Steven Chell

Oh, how I enjoyed this...the best episode ever! 💙

Led Nicky

It's pronounced "flo-tee-yah." Made me cackle. Great work again. Loved it.

Justin McKean

I guess there's only so much ufology and paranormal stuff to talk about. Would be cool to do some stuff on real conspiracy stuff but YouTube being YouTube would reduce you to Rumble and Patreon. Sad. This could be so much more!

h0tline.actual

When you're here on the other side of the ocean, make sure to visit our Great Lochs: Loch Erie, Loch Huron, Loch Michigan, Loch Ontario, and Loch Superior. :-)

MikeD

I appreciate your efforts and always look forward to new episodes. Thanks! And yes, I saw your video and don't expect a new one for a while. No sweat. If you only did one a month it's still money well spent.

Rick Tucker

loch ness isn't a lake, its a loch (sorry in Scottish comes with the territory) hehe

Shaun Baltes

Thank you AJ! A huge fan of Bigfoot (nonbeliever but I love what Bigfoot stands for) We need a well rested AJ to lead TWF followers! Love what you do! Love who you are and love how hard you work but you must also enjoy the fruits of your labor

Made Broke

Great vid again guys, the Greenland shark is also another possible contender for misidentified sightings and sonar readings of the Loch Ness monster

David Gilleard

Thank You 💜💜💜💜 Sending healing vibes !!!!!

Maria Castro

I have personally studied this issue for decades. My conclusion of the big-footed men, aliens are just as allusive as the Grey's, there for visitors. No bones were found of the big footed man, none we know of anyway. Although they are seen all over the world, different colors and sizes but still seen. So the Chupacabra is not real, but then what sucked the blood out of so many animal's? Lock Ness monster was a dead tree washed into the lake, slowly petrifying. What they saw above the lake was a washed away sinking tree, root sticking out. Where I got this idea I grew up on a few different lakes, and boating in area's one needs to look out for things like decaying tree's turning petrified. One day while out fishing for gold fish, just looking for a friend, and my fishing buddy said What The f is that near the shore, and sure enough it looked like a Lock ness creature, so when we investigated got closer, it was a decaying washed away tree.

John Seychel

A great weaving of fantasy and reality. You are super.

Kazren

How about researching Mokele Mbembe (sp?) somewhere in Africa?

Walt Dennig

Yes, well said. AJ, everyone here supports you and the crew. Get some rest, take as much time as you need. A huge group hug from us all! You've always been here for us all and now it's our turn to be here for you.

Steve Haber

AJ, did you come across Dr. Melba Ketchum and The Sasquatch Genome Study in researching this episode? I write contemporary fantasy novels so I’ve read a lot of ‘high strangeness’ and cryptid research material. That story might be worthy of a future episode. It’s… odd, to say the least. Lots of controversy, an apparent hoax, conspiracies within conspiracies, the works. Many of the known players in the Bigfoot world are involved. After you’re rested up, you should take a look.

Massie

So excited for another cryptid episode!

The Neoborn Caveman Show

Thanks for another wonderful and enlightening episode! I spent much of my youth researching a lot of the subjects you cover, but you dig soooo very much deeper than I ever could. Cheers to you for the exhaustive research, and the most entertaining platform on the internet!

Pete Mitchell

Here is my issue with the Bigfoot film. Human hips are designed differently than all other two legged creatures, the creatures have to shift their weight leg to leg so they all move left to right to left to right as they walk. Human hips don’t require that, and the Bigfoot film, it’s walking like a human. Great show though!

Bosco Lemonzit

I was thinking about doing the $50 just to have my name at the top of the credits for a month.

John Knox

Well done!

Richard Sanchez

I don't really like cryptids, but good video. On bigfoot I'm glad you pointed out no 💩 found and no bones there has also never been found feeding grounds or living spaces. 90 - 99% of stuff found on Bigfoot has been debunked. The Native American stories about Bigfoot typically give totally different descriptions, even one story where they are 3 foot high (1 M). So history of an American Bigfoot has been debunked as well.

John Knox

Good one. You are awesome.

Alex Kosanke

I'm with AJ on the cryptids.

Sindy Simms

Have you ever checked out the documentary DISCOVERING BIGFOOT? I'm really curious what you think of that. As always love everything you do and always look forward to every episode.
