I knew Jieun had less Lines in a couple of songs... But because I watched the MV mainly... I didn't notice that there was only 3 people singing and Yuki rap... I was Blinded By Visuals T_T I need to pay attention more XD

I had the same reaction as you, I was surprised at all of the English after looking at the lyrics. I honestly couldn't tell they were singing in English for a lot of the English parts. You could write a script to pause both things at once. Get fancy with the reactions lol

What a solid album! I'd be hard pressed to find a stronger gg coming out this year. They're definitely solid ROTY contenders

I can understand some people having less line i don't expect soojin to sing as much as minnie or ireh to sing as much a swan that's not their job but for Jieun what is her role in PK because she's not in the perfomance line (who anyway is stupidly stacked XD), she not the center cuz it's seems to be Goeun from what we've seen and she's not even in the vocal line in CWTA (sadly). And i think people do sleep on her vocal, especially her lower tone who is awesome and we don't have enough lower tone vocalist in Kpop GG. Anyway, the girls will rock the industry i don't have any doubt!!

2021-03-16 17:26:20 +0000 UTCYou could fool me that it's not your first language! The line distribution thing is such an interesting topic that 90% of the time doesn't bother me. Almost every group has a member or two that gets the short end of the stick. To me it's a mix of marketability and even straight up skill sometimes, though I'm not going to claim anything with PK yet since it's only their debut album.

My ranking would go: Ponzona > Skip Skip > Period > Can We Talk Again > Hello > Heart Skip A Beat And I was obsessed with My Heart Skip a Beat when I first heard it, so that will tell you just how strong I think this mini album is. I do agree with the other commenters about the issues with the line distribution though. It does seem like Jieun in particular is getting very little to do, which is a shame since I love her darker tone. That's an issue that RBW can solve pretty easily though, so I think it's a good sign if that's our main complaint about this debut album. And it's even more impressive that all the members participated in the writing and composition of the album, I think it's going to be very difficult to top Purple Kiss as rookies of the year for me.

2021-03-16 13:38:31 +0000 UTCLot of thoughts on this album: - First i don't know why i didn't connect the dots before but Ponzona (like a lot have said it) was wrote by Swan for an evaluation. It was not made to be a title track where CWTA was wrote and composed by Kim Dohoon, the CEO of RBW who is a famous producer (and take in charge every title track of mamamoo for ex). It make sense why a lot of people prefered this song over ponzona as a potential Title track from a casual point of view and why Ponzona may not be as appealing for casual/ first time listener. - If i understand it correctly, this album was handle overall by a non in-house producer. Maybe they wanted to try something different. I respect this kind of choice but maybe for a debut album i would have stick with RBW producers (probably why the B-sides where thos those producers are involved are better imo). - after seeing those line distribution with your video, i'm a bit done. It's gonna really affect my enjoyment of the group. Jieun while probably end up in the same spot as Shuhua from G(IDLE) and it makes me really sad because her voice is deeper and could bring so much to the table. Ireh and Dosie don't have a lot of line ether but i hope they will shine a bit more on stage since they are from the Performance line (like Dosie who blew me away in Ponzona). - That being said i truly love this album and i'm glad to have pre-order it. For me that will be: Skip Skip -> Hello -> Ponzona/MHSAB (depending on my mood) -> CWTA -> Period. A great debut album who showcase a lot of variety, and damn their hands are all over the album wich is amazing especially for a debut. Love the fact that once again RBW don't go for the "easy" choice of making commercially successfull title track and prefer to let their artists breath. Like i read one day from the CEO something like: "We make money to be able to produce the music we want, we don't make music to do money" (something like that, wich explain why they have a group like Onewe who is expensive and pretty underground and don't generate a lot of money). Sorry for the long post and the awful english (not my first language). Stan PK !!

For me: Period > MHSAB > CWTA > Skip Skip > Ponzona > Hello (and still, even Hello is a pretty good song, especially the quiet/minimalistic parts). Everyone guessed that it must be fan song, because the whole group is credited for the lyrics, but it's more melancholic and sad. Definitely going to be a tear-jerker in the future in concerts.

2021-03-16 08:13:38 +0000 UTCI like Ponzona more today than I did yesterday. I think it's solid, but as you say it might be hard for the masses to love. Skip Skip is just fantastic. It's fun, it's familiar yet interesting, it's punchy without being in-your-face and I honestly think it does a better job of showcasing the members' individuality than Ponzona. As for MHSAB, I think I prefer the single version? For that wild vocal flinging, Goeun gets right up there at full power, whereas Swan is a lot more head voice-y. Still a total banger! I do kinda feel Jieun is still getting the short end of the stick with line distribution. She's barely in most songs and she's not in CWTA at all which I thought was just odd when that came out. Dosie and Ireh I can sort of understand since they're the "performance line". This sounds a lot more negative than I meant for it to be. 😂 I like the album quite a bit, I guess I just need more listens to understand some of the choices they made. Super excited to see some live performances and where they'll go from here.
