PENTAGON - "DO or NOT" Comeback Stage

PENTAGON - "DO or NOT" Comeback Stage

Comments

Oh I've heard Shine a bunch. It's super hard to avoid a song that popular in the industry haha. I haven't seen the MV though!

i know this was super early into your Pentagon journey, but im glad you were honest about being worried that reactions to them might not pull many views because of how underrated they are, that's a valid worry. i will say that i 100% agree with you, that had The Boyz not been phenomenal on RTK, this group should have taken the win (funny enough, i watched RTK *for* Pentagon and fell in love with TBZ accidentally, so i had the same thoughts!). if you still haven't listened to it (i know it isn't a reaction you've done yet, but maybe you heard it on your own?), you simply have to check out "shine" aka the predecessor to "do or not" in how fun/silly/catchy it is! if you need an extra boost, back in 2018 i was infuriated that it didn't win song of the year (no offense to ikon or "love scenario," but "shine" is just the epitome of kpop excellence in 2018), so i hope that if you haven't listened to it, you will! it's OT10 too!!! ✨

do or not is such a banger and their live stages just kept getting better and better. lol

I feel the same about underdogs. Pentagon are my ult bg, I became a patron just to see more of your videos on them, haha And I agree with everything you said about western pop and listening to either hard stuff or sad stuff - I'm like that as well, though I've been opening up more since I got back into kpop last year.

About your TheBoyz comment, I think it's really about what you're looking for in Kpop. They've very different styles and focus on different aspects of a performance, be it choreography, stage presence or vocals. It's really up to everyone's taste and this generation of fans seems heavily oriented towards dance performances, which isn't Pentagon's forte.

The high note in this was Hongseok. It’s actually Hongseok in the album as well, Hui (pronounced Hwe, h sound and then we) did the adlibs at the end of the track while the rest of the group were harmonizing together.

I really appreciate the honesty in your reactions, it's refreshing! You probably need to see at least Shine as it is the most famous one, Dr Bebe because it is DARK, plus both still pull ok views. Also, don't watch Basquiat before RTK ends! Having to deal with all the hate PENTAGON had too (which was a lot) can only either make a group implode or make them rally together against the world, and it shows on stage that they are the latter. Sales are ok (but messed up ty cube for being bad at predicting stock levels and booking cheap manufacturers!!) and digitals up and down but the song and album definitely deserve better. I rarely like all songs in an album (for any artist) but this time I did not skip anything, I was shocked tbh.

wowoooowow

I do actually hear a difference now that you mention it, he's popping off!! Honk main vocal

Juuls

In this version without Hui I believe it's actually Hongseok doing the high note! The tone is a bit sharper than in the original version!

Oh and Kino's note said "I missed you", also Hongseok is such a troll I swear I hate him but I love him (he's the one peeking into Wooseok's and Kino's ending fairy)

Juuls

Also fun fact, if you haven't recorded the next episode for RTK yet: Kino, Hui and Wooseok are the ones performing with ONF! So your two main guys and mine :) AND this song gave them the #1 spot on Genie twice now, that's a HUGE achievement for them and their fans!!

Juuls

Yay!! Their energy is sooo infectious and I love that more and more people seem to realise how fucking talented they are. They debuted back in 2016. Yes, that's Kino with the pink hair, their main dancer. He sometimes choreographs for the group as well :) he also writes and composes sometimes, a lot of albums have that one Kino written song, and for me it's always very distinguishable that it's his song hahah! My bias is Wooseok, the tallest and main rapper (the one wearing the yellow jacket). He helps write a lot of their songs, I think he was credited for 5/7 songs on the new album. That's Hui's vocals going off! Normally Jinho is the high note guy, but Hui with his incredible voice has his fair share of adlibs and with Jinho gone it was Hui's turn to show off :) Jinho + Hui is a powerful vocal duo, two of the strongest vocalists I have ever heard

Juuls

my favs are Hui and kino too
