2022-11-02 12:25:45 +0000 UTCYou were told correctly that eggs that stand up are only starting to spoil and can still be eaten, but how you prepare the eggs also makes a difference. Only use fresh eggs for hard or soft boiling, if gas has started to build up they should be cooked outside the shell.
