Kpop Evolution Episode 5 + 6 (Lives of Idols: Trainees and Final Assessment)

I had always planned to react to this series so I'm happy these episodes were requested! These specifically focus on STAYC's pre-debut period with discussions about the Idol Industry in general.

KARA, fx, Wonder Girls, Pentagon, GIDLE, Taemin, and more make appearances.

Since STAYC girls are HighUp’s only gg, Rado has treated these girls like her daughters. You can really tell the very close bond that Rado and STAYC have in subsequent behind the scene videos, and that he genuinely cares about the girls well being.

Minjung ended up leaving PNation after not too long and joining another agency, but left there right before debut as well (the group never ended up debuting either). She was also in Produce 101, so she's really been through the wringer in her career. She's an influencer now, I think. I don't think Lydia ever ended up debuting, which sucks for her. I've seen this a few times, but it's fun to go back to it. Really interesting show and very well made. I think the companies were a little more open to having the crew there because it was YouTube and not some independent film makers, but it went into a lot more detail than I thought it would. Also: Don't discount Teddy Bear. It's not everyone's taste for sure, but it was actually their best performing release for the Korean general public ;)

Thanks for reacting to my request! And yeah, the other episodes are great too, and largely episodic, that's why I felt like just requesting these two would be good if you ever decided to check out the others on your own. And yes, it was in the Sunmi interview where Sumin revealed that Isa had left to go home to Busan at one point and she was able to get her to come back. I wonder if it was before or after this.

So glad you caught these episodes! Like you mentioned during the commentary, this entire series is a very real and even-handed look at the k-pop industry - showing the highs and lows. I also had fun watching the music video centered episode, and hope you can see that one soon!
