Miss Mary Angel, Pt. 2
Added 2016-01-25 01:17:47 +0000 UTCI think Mary is beautiful. Her skin is like porcelain, clear and pale with a hint of freckles sprinkled around like rose petals on a bedspread.
She brought this top that I had mixed feelings about, a loose, lacy thing that didn't go with anything else she brought. Still, we threw it in our collection of bags and took it with us. When we were finally shooting on the sand, we began looking for something white to wear and settled on this. Hanging simply, it didn't flatter her fit shape very much, but when she began playing with it and allowing the light to shine through it, that top became my favorite item of the day.
This might be my favorite shot of the whole experience. Not only is it beautiful, but I love the happy accident it reminds me of. As a photographer, no matter how much planning or story-boarding or set ideas you may have, you have to always be open to the unexpected. Trust the model to do something that you would never have anticipated and always be ready to capture it as best you can.
My least favorite thing to say is "Can you do that again, I missed it." I go out of my way to overshoot a bit, clicking a little too often, but I'm always glad at the special, in-between moments that I've captured because of that purpose. Learn from my experience!
