Think of it from their perspective. Everything he has done (saving Emelia from the assassin, surviving Rem's attack, defeating the white whale, defeating Beetlejuice) he did them all on the first try to them. If he was just a normal dude that he looks like he wouldn't of been able to accomplish all that. Roswaal and Beatrice def know Subaru has something they just don't know what. Basically everytime it takes Subaru multiple deaths to accomplish something, to everyone else he is doing it first try. Also throw in shit like him knowing layout of the mansion or who people are when he shouldn't. Theres definitely hints that he has something going on that another smart character such as Beatrice could figure out.

If the first trial is to face your past, that would be super traumatic to have to see the memories that she’s suppressed. But idk, I think her past also has something to do with why Puck is MIA currently.

(1) Subaru wakes up --> (2) Subaru meets Beako first time --> (3) She knocks him the fuck out to confirm if he was an enemy --> (4) He wakes up again to Rem and Ram. Subaru's respawn point is at (4), and Subaru was shocked that Beatrice remembered him, but he realized she met him at (2).
