They don't teach about what a steam engine is, let alone how it works in regular school curriculum, at least in America, because they haven't been in use for over 40 years. It was touched on of course, but that's it.

It wasn't a complete wild guess, or a complete ass pull. But apparently people don't know that steam engines run on coal, which is wild because I thought that was common knowledge.

What I was just trying to say from the start is they could have done it to make sense but they chose to make it unrealistic. They should have added the extra little scene or the little explanation showing what they should have done to make it work instead of just doing something that makes no sense like you are saying.

You can give an explanation for what they are doing but they aren't actually showing the proper logical way to do that and they don't bother explaining otherwise. Adding the support under the covering like some decently sturdy sticks would be enough to hold up a thin layer but they don't bother with showing that or explaining it. The series is all about science and logic but the stuff that is less priority in the story seems to not follow a lot of the same steps. I mean I understand anime logic like some of the characters being super strong or conveniently figuring out that senku will basically create some kind of automobile so they conveniently set up the traps but at least try to make things be logical and still support reality with the environment and things other than humans. Science is involved with the pitfall traps but they don't care about making them logical since they don't align with the inventions senku makes.

2021-02-19 06:26:39 +0000 UTCThe better question would be how the hell they put in and take out chrome without completely taking down the bamboo they have set up to trap him in..... Like you can't just make a door with a key from that kind of set up lol. Also the bamboo would have to be stuck in the ground in order to have stability and not just fall over. The only way I could think of is they literally have to untie and take the bamboo down and put it all back up again. For a series about science and logic this series really doesn't think about the little things lol

2021-02-19 06:18:57 +0000 UTCRight, I’m familiar with how it’s supposed to work in real life. If you look at the pit traps themselves there is nothing covering the holes. The dirt or mud is literally suspended in thin air held up by nothing. When dude stepped on it there was nothing holding the dirt up, it simply collapsed. It wouldn’t be able to hold its form because when it hardens, the weight from the outside-in will add up, and it will cave in.

2021-02-19 06:11:43 +0000 UTCSo the ground thing can actually be explained in some way even though they obviously won't show it or explain it but people create traps like that by getting long enough sticks to barely reach end to end and they put enough around the trap to be strong enough to hold up the covering on top but still be fragile enough to collapse when stepped on. I think normally when I see traps like that it is in an environment with grass and leaves. You normally just gather a bunch of grass to put on top of those sticks (which again are still fragile enough to collapse when a decent little amount of force is pressed upon them) and they also add the addition of leaves to make it even more camouflaged. I guess in this example instead of grass and leaves they create a mixture of mud or something to sort of cement together with the addition of sticks or whatever they could find to hold up the covering. I guess since chrome is locked up with bamboo they could also use bamboo to hold up the covering of the pitfall trap. Anything that is sturdy but still fragile would work as long as it reach side to side of the pitfall. Lol idk why I explained this but I just thought about it when you asked.
