Fun Fact: The composer for this movie was involved in Paranoia Agent too, the anime about the kid with the golden bat. another one that I forgot about Dreaming Kids was supposedly supposed to be the next movie from the director but it was never made.

2021-03-29 05:44:55 +0000 UTCKinda like Inception’s definitely an understatement, it’s widely believed this is the movie that inspired large parts of inception. Although, if I may add my honest opinion, I think this movie does it so much better. Animation suits the dream worlds so well and this movie uses the “camera” in ways that would be nearly impossible in live action. That lets it blend the dream worlds together with some absolutely gorgeous transitions. All of Satoshi Kon’s movies are masterpieces and it’s such a shame he died so young. Perfect Blue and Paprika are definitely his most famous works, but I think I’ve got to remember to suggest Millennium Actress when you guys post the next movie poll. All three movies are excellent examples of blending fiction and reality, until the viewer themselves don’t fully recognize the which world they’re currently in. Perfect Blue does it for horror, Paprika does it to create the feeling of uncontrollable dreams, and Millennium Actress does it to blend the past and the present through the eyes of an actress. Anything with Satoshi Kon’s name on it is going to be a great watch.
